Re: Manufactur Company Feedback?

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you had insight about the company below that produces flashlights?

Company called Powertac? I looked at some of their lights on website. Looks pretty interesting but not sure about purchase?

How is the quality compared to Nitecore, Fenix, Olight, Klarus, etc….

Some of those lights look good, but I am not familiar with them?

Please shed some light if you have feedback from using their product.

Thanks so much.

Junk, can buy the same light for less than $10 elsewhere, have seen them below $6.

I’ve never heard of this brand, but the lights seem to be “nice”, not outstanding compared to other brands!
I went to their site and liked the E10r!
BUT, those prices… :person_facepalming:

Thanks for input guys. There are quite a few lesser known brands I am interested in as well. Just do not know enough about them or build quality to take a chance.

Go to Gearbest, Banggood, Fasttech, Kiadomain, and look around. Many different names on the same light.

Southland, were you talking about the E10R version? Can you please point it out on those sites? I’ve searched a bit on them but couldn’t find it :person_facepalming:
Thanks in advance!!

Also, I’ve seen some flashlights that have similar/identical shape of the Powertacs but they are not the same, although this was not an in-deep search !

Where did the link go in OP?

Hum, I didn’t see it the first time I posted :expressionless:
Sorry for asking, but after all there was a “missing link” there

Anyway, I was looking for some video review of these lights and what I noticed was that they seem to be pretty “regular” but there is some nasty PWM (at least in the cameras) in several lights!
They have nice designs, with some differences regarding to other brands’ models, but don’t seem to be the “revolution” in the flashlight world, as far as I could perceive.

And again…those prices… :person_facepalming:

Hi,

I had some information from others talked about this brand Powertac.

They start at selling Olight flashlight, later they start own brand, product similar with Olight, mainly purchased by law enforcement and policeman.

Quality is on average, price is too high, around twice on similar product.

BTW, the product they sale manufactured in China.

Powertac is a fascinating brand. They entered into a distribution deal with David Chow when he was behind Fenix lights. Basically he gave them $200,000 of lights on credit and they never paid. Sold the lights and used the money to start PowerTac. FENIX FLASHLIGHTS, LLC v. LI et al, No. 1:2012cv01310 - Document 61 (M.D.N.C. 2015) :: Justia

Per the court document, it is Powertac operator Jian Li or Borencio Daren or both of them place order with Olight, only pay little down payment and get all the product, sold them to start Powertac, am I correct?

I don’t get the connection between Fenix and Olight. Does Fenix own Olight?

Powertac is a junk facebook/ebay/amazon brand. Spend a few more $$ and get a quality product from Convoy or KDLitker (Kaidomain.com)

I find cheap lights to be just that. Wild claims of lumen output, poor quality electronics & switches, terrible waterproofing and counterfeit LEDs.
Sometimes there are exceptions. Try the link below. With a coupon from FIN17, they are under $12 and extremeley well made. I have several floating around my camping stuff, workshop and vehicle glove boxes.

I don’t have any info or feedback on the brand but I’ve been looking at their lights for several months…

What caught my attention was that some of their lights have “full body” knurling style that I REALLY like. I wish other manufactures would employ this style of knurling instead of the common inconsistent knurl/ridged/smooth between head/body/tail.

Here’s the light I’m referring to, the E9:

I mentioned this Powertac light in my knurling thread: Aggressive knurling - #73 by beam0

.
I came across the light when I was searching Kydex flashlight holsters, (the E9 comes with one that I really liked)
.

A lot of their lights have the tail mounted side switch for the “police hold” grip method. I would buy this light if it wasn’t overpriced (like all of their lights are).

I did find the Kydex holster available by itself (should fit most “tube” style lights): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AWW9ZMO/?coliid=I11DTEOECFJOI8&colid=6KV1HHJYKBDR&psc=0&ref\_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

Curious why this is relevant?

.

That is an interesting story, wonder how it ended, or if it was settled.

.

I think they might, I’d like to know about this as well.

What are you talking about? At Powertac’s prices one could get two or three similar lights from Convoy, KD, Sofirn, etc.

David Chow was the master distributor for Fenix until he sold it to Fenixstore.com - I think, could be wrong on who he sold it to. He then started 4/7’s and Olight.

I have not looked in a while but several years ago PowerTac was positioning themselves as a premium brand in quality and price. They went viral initially putting their first light through crazy durability testing like shooting it was an AR15.

Agree, wstrachan’s statement has no merit and doesn’t make sense. Powertac may be overpriced but isn’t a junk facebook/ebay/amazon brand. He must be confusing the name with another brand.
