Neat Accessory For The Emisar D1

I have a Emisar D1 and really like it but it’s basically a thrower and a good one especially for it’s size with it’s deep smooth reflector.

I’ve been looking for a way to turn it into a more rounded out or multi faceted light that would also turn it into a nice area light. I have some stick-on, (easily removable), diffusing material and cut out a nice round piece and covered the lens. It works great as an area light now but lost a lot of it’s throw.

I wanted both an area light AND keep it’s throwing ability. I remembered a gent a few years ago over on CPF that had come up with an idea with the just released Nitecore EA4 that was a huge hit, (miss?, back then.

He bought a Butler Creek Blizzard flip open scope cover that fit over the EA4’s head perfectly. When the diffusing material is applied to the inside of the B.C. Blizzards lens, with a push or flick of the thumb, you now had an area light AND a thrower.

These B.C. Blizzards are really nice. Quality made and the clear lens is made of tempered, optical grade glass. There’s two protrusions on the cover that will accommodate right and left hand folks. The spring really pops the cover open with authority with just a push of the thumb.

I measured the diameter of the D1 and found that the #2 size of the Butler Creek Blizzard Flip-Open scope cover fits over the D1’s head perfectly. I had to use a tiny bit of dish scope to lightly spread on the inside of the cover for easy installation but it fits nice and snug and isn’t going to come off very easily.

To me, it looks almost like it was made for the D1! Like I said, you need to cut a round piece of diffusing material, (I used a coin), and apply it to the inside of the Blizzard’s lens. You now have a nice looking, (again, to me), cover and now an area light and with a push of the thumb, the thrower the D1 was designed for!

I believe a gent over on CPF still sells the diffusing material and I apologize as I can’t remember his name or screen name but maybe someone here does or has a source for it as I do not.

The B.C. #2 Blizzard is available on Amazon for under $8.00. Check it out.

That’s the stuff! Thanks ChibiM!

That’s a great solution to the problem. Military issue Surefires had colored filters on a flip open cover for map reading. This is similar but much more interesting.

I’ve used Butler Creek caps for years on my firearm scopes to keep the lenses clean. I’ve used the black and the clear covers with zero failures.

Yeah, they’re good quality but inexpensive. I’m really liking this. Great area light one minute, push of a thumb, great thrower!

Very interested in this issue. I ask to give the address on which it is possible to order

Hello ! Information I did not receive. Tried to write a personal letter Boaz and you, but the system does not.
