I have a Sofirn C8F with 3 XP-L HD emitters that, ramped to a little over 2000 lumens, is still making 2000 in 3 minutes and is warm to the point of being hot but still hand holdable with no issue. The Samsung 30Q was still up close to 4V after 3 minutes.

Yes, the D4 is going to step down from Turbo pretty fast, but at about 50% level to begin with it holds up pretty well. The 18650 configuration would of course fare better as far as the cell life goes…

SKV89, a triple SST-40 will maintain 2000+ lumens easily for several minutes but I don’t know about the 18650 format. Possibly something like a triple SST-40 X6? I have an SupFire M6 and it does it easily, heat not a problem. It’s a decently small light but still not an EDC probably. Maybe a triple SST-40 built on a single 26650 frame format?

The new D4s might interest you, it’s a single 26650 with quad emitters, it might be capable and is not a very big light at all… brand new from Emisar and probably not released just yet but should be soon if it’s not already.

The soon to be available 21700 tube Sofirn C8F should also work well set up this way. I think XP-L2’s or the Samsung LH351D should make the lumens you’re after. (I mean, they’ll be coasting at 2000 lumens so they’ll last the time frame you specced. Wink )

Edit: My D4Ti with Samsung LH351D emitters in shorty form makes right at 2000 lumens at the ramp ceiling as set by default in Anduril… but by a little over 1 1/2 minutes it’s pretty hot. The new larger D4s should be able to take it so I’d recommend waiting for this as it should really work well for you (with Anduril flashed and the ability to set ceiling levels and/or use stepped levels)

26650 D4?!! Where did you get that from?? I’m definitely interested! But I suspect it still will not be able to maintain 2000 lumens for 5 minutes unless they have an all copper host. Right now I mainly use the Thrunite TC20 for work because it can maintain 1800 lumens for maybe 3-5 minutes, which is pretty outstanding. I am also about to have a C8F modded with 3x LH351D 90CRI by Texas_Ace but I’m still hoping for something smaller that “easily” fits in my pocket. I think 21700 would be as large as I want for pocketable EDC. I was waiting for the Acebeam EC65 but after reading the reviews, I decided not to get it yet since it doesn’t seem to perform as well as the TC20 although it is smaller.

Intl-Outdoor is bringing the Emisar D4s to us, new 33mm quad MCPCB and a new 34mm Angie optic from Ledil, should be available soon the way I get it.

““my best guess would be copper head, aluminum Tube and bezel

I agree.
Quote: and titanium tail cap
Why?
Only adds unnecessary costs i.m.o, and you get black, copper colour, black, silver gray… Sick”“”

My little quad Astrolux S41 has brown (colour drawn) bezel. Copper head. partially heated RED 18650 sized Ally tube, and heated base. (Black drawn out of them).

Looks real nice. and different.
Keep off Turbo. heat wise it’s ok. It’s a nicer LOOKING torch than the D4 too Titanium or otherwise.
They and the D1 bloody UGLYYYyyyy.

That and Imalent DN35 tend to be my carry torches nowadays, when going out for a walk.
Weights about equal, with neither a problem. Use the rest for everything else.

We DON’T buy these torches for cost.. They’re different..
And we buy them for such.
I got an L6 and L2 Plus a Skyray 9x cree XM-L2 which I’ll probably never have needs for.
Just the WANT’s syndrome.
as most of us do.
Colours just tend to vary them a little. Stops ‘em getting all boringly black.
