2019-2020 deer season opens tomorrow (archery) so I got a new toy for that! Gun week isn’t till December but I need to put some lead down range before hand to get used to her. Can’t make it to the range this weekend, got another full weekend of tree jobs but by next weekend my Skinner sights will be here and I’ll get them installed and get out to the woods.

Marlin 1895 in .45-70 government

For deer I’ll be shooting these 325gr hornady rounds but for fun I’ll be slinging 405’s!

My old Samsung TV bit the dust.

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN32EH5000-32-Inch-1080p-60Hz/dp/B0071O4ETQ

Yesterday, I received my new Samsung TV.

https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B07CL4GLQW/

It's basically the same model, but six years newer.

When I have my laptop hooked up to it, I can see that the image quality is way better with the newer model.

Not everything is an improvement, however.

The new TV doesn't have a headphone jack, so I had to order a Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC).

Also, the new TV's built in stand isn't as convenient as the old TV.

I haven't used the new TV very much so far, and I won't be able to until I get my DAC, so I'm sure there are other differences that I haven't noticed yet.

(I almost always watch TV with headphones.)

It's really weird not being able to watch TV because that's where I get my news.

I feel I'm out of the loop not knowing what's going on around the world.

Mine only lasted 4.5 years.

I should get it repaired and give it to my sister, once she has room for it.

Twist the heck out of it, and then solve it.

For the record, I’m not a speed cuber. It takes me about a minute to solve the 3×3×3 using the beginner’s algorithms. But it’s a lot of fun, even if I know I’ll never reach competition level.

The Bucky balls? I’d be far too paranoid that I’d lose one of them! Big Smile

Set of 216, I think, 6 colors. They all stick together, so they’re fine.

Whenever I play with ‘em, I put ‘em back in the 6×6×6 cube with the colors intact.

OK now I’m starting to become convinced. I guess my greatest fear is one of the balls becoming detached and ending up in my dog’s stomach. But I’m probably underestimating how strong the magnets are.

Today I received and installed some RAM for my aging desktop.

kingston_8gb_ram

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J8E93G6

It took me forever to figure out what RAM to get for my motherboard and computer situation (my desktop is overclocked quite a bit and needs high quality RAM).

The price of the RAM was $36, but has gone up since I bought it.

I didn't know for sure if the new RAM would work with the old RAM, but it did, so now my desktop has a total of 12GB instead of 4GB of RAM.

Installation was a breeze as everything worked perfectly immediately after I installed it.  :THUMBS-UP:

I decided that I wanted to try the Glo Toob Pro AAA. Pretty expensive for what it is, but I like it. I’m sure though that the BLF pros would be able to design something better for a more budget-minded price.

I ordered this yesterday...

https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-Multimedia-Desktop-Stand-27-5/dp/B00AJHCRCI

and received it today!

I didn't even pay for quick shipping, and I do not have Amazon Prime.

The TV stand is very nice, but today I am most impressed with the one-day free shipping.

Fiio M3K

The first DAP that I’ve bought since I got the 30GB Gen 5 iPod fourteen years ago. I realised afterwards that I have quite an intense dislike for Apple products, so I sold it again a few months later. But after reading / watching tons of reviews for the M3K, I’m convinced that I’ll enjoy this little machine. Still waiting for a pair of Sony MDR-EX650AP headphones that I ordered for it.

Nice. Your story is similar to mine. Wife (girlfriend back then) gifted me a 20GB iPod some 13 years ago. I used it for a while, but I never warmed up to the whole iTunes integration concept and simplistic Apple UI. Thankfully, the HDD died in it in a couple of years, so I ditched it.

Two years ago I got a Shanling M3s, and have been enjoying portable music once again. I also went crazy and bought a bunch of earphones, and recently picked up some true wireless ones, too. Life is good.

I am writing this on a 2012 Macbook pro so I guess I don’t hate all Apple UI Wink However, for most of the past decade or so my .mp3 players have been my android phone with a SD card to hold the music. Currently I have an iPhone so my .mp3 has become much more limited in size. Looking forward to my next Android so I can load up more music and video on a cheap SD card rather than pay Apple a fortune for the same thing. The UI is even worse today as now they really try to force everything on to the cloud.

I am curious as to why you are using .mp3 players instead of just your phone?

For me, I prefer not to use up my phone battery while listening to music. In addition, a higher end DAP usually has better sound quality, better built-in amp, and better support for different audio formats, including hi-res lossless ones.

Drones! That’s a rabbit hole if I ever saw one… although you can probably find quite a few of them with a camera equipped drone. Wink
