Thanks for the advice, my Wowstick has 18 bits already, but I will keep eye on the Wiha set, if it gets cheaper I will grab one.

SpAwN, thanks my friend. Just ordered it from amscope for $189.89 US dollars. I’m sure it will be an asset to my hobby. BTW, I’ve been a professional in electrical/ electronics repair for well over 30 years before I retired, plus another 20 or so years before that being a hobbyist building electronic kits from Heathkit, Dynakit, etc.

What, precisely, makes them wow-worthy?

You are welcome, wow that was quick Smile There are better models but the prices are sky high and this one is on discount for a nice price, I hope you like it, I was looking for one for a while, since I registered here I started looking harder and finally got one.
I opened a topic here: http://budgetlightforum.com/node/59051 about it’s light, but I have some other ideas for the boom stand, it pretty big and it is taking a lot space on my desk, but getting one of these is too expensive for couple times I solder in a month, besides that model is twice as much here in the Netherlands. If you wear glasses, you can get different eye pieces, 10X is best for soldering, you can ask Amscope for advice, they have good after sales.

Oh I am a electrical field engineer (fancy name for a electrician with papers) started working at my 17th and studied till my 26th in the evenings so I am working as electrician for 27 years now. Electronics is my hobby along with some other technical stuff.

I didn’t found out yet, just got it today Big Smile
It suppose to be handy while repairing a laptop or tablet with gazillion screws for the covers and the PCB’s
I got it with the code of bilakos 2 weeks ago, but he has new code today again:

Hmm.

‘Cause I got those little rubbery blocks that fit 20-30 of those bits (flat, phillips, torx, hex, etc.), and even bigger kits with way more, including security bits, and most times they include a handle to use them manually if need be.

Some are purely manual, others have a built-in ratchet, you name it. So I figured there was something particularly clever about the “wowstick” to make it wow-worthy. No? Big Smile

Let us know how you like it…

Ordered an YZXstudio ZY1270 USB tester. I have several inexpensive testers and they all give different readings. This one is supposed to be accurate from what the reviews say.

That looks amazing. I need a big screen, as I use my phone far more for Internet and messaging than for calls. Currently got an Xperia 4G tablet and very happy with it, but I’ve been looking for a replacement for the day when it stops working, or the battery no longer hold a charge. Not sure if the OnePlus is within my price range, though.

This is the Arduino Pro Mini that I received today – didn’t realise how tiny it is!

Received this a few days ago

Needed it to replace a Salter scale that takes CR2032 batteries and has started eating them, one per week or so.
Very impressed with it, takes 2xAAA, very good backlit display, very accurate – matches my Salter to the gram exactly.
Also well thought out trays, upside down one covers the plate, and the larger one covers the whole scale for protection, keeping the display clean.

Got it from here Gearbest page
I think with a Bilakos coupon, paid $8 with shipping.

Beam me up!

Got an YZXStudio ZY1270 USB meter. Expensive, but it’s way more accurate that the others I own. I love the display!

Picked up a USB fan. Dropped my router CPU temps by about 15 degrees C. Not that it really needed it. More of a “feel good” type of mod.

Where did you order it from? Does this one also work with the same PC software like the ZKE Tech EBD-USB+ meter?

I have no idea what software it works with. I’m using it as a standalone. Got it from here:

I paid $38.69 with shipping. (USA Seller)

I like (and have wanted one) that YZXStudio ZY1270 USB meter, Glenn. Spendy darn thing tho.
I needed a battery storage case, so I bought four Pelican 1010 micros, that arrived last week, I like them so much I have six more on the way.
I’ll use them as gifts (to put a flashlight and batteries inside). So the recipients will get a bonus of what’s inside. Smile

More regarding the Panasonic ZS100 camera I previously mentioned here…

Some of the reviews on the ZS100 note the front side finger grip is perhaps a little on the too small side. I do agree. The factory grip on the ZS100 is shallower than the grip on the old TZ4 I have. So I did some google searching. I found a few different add-on grips. Most are a universal type. Then I found one on Etsy; custom made for the ZS100. At first glance it appeared to stick out too far in front. I had more reservations about some of the others not being enough though. I bit the bullet and ordered the one on Etsy; $20 inluded shipping. He has several colors (link to Etsy page is below) One , and only one, has a textured surface finish. I chose that one. The ZS100 comes in two colors, typical black camera and the silver grey with red stripe that I bought. This #20 color is a good color for either color camera, IMO.

Anyhow, I do like the appearance and am really impressed with the use of the camera with the grip. Handling the camera with the new grip applied makes for a much more secure feeling. I still use the wrist strap, just in case I slip. Here’s some shots; the Etsy link at the bottom

The grip affixes using a strip of a 3M tape; a VHB variant. It has a tenacious hold. It works best if applied between 70 and 100 F, so I warmed grip and camera in an insulated bag to 95 F.

Etsy link here.

Wow. The grip just blends in nicely with the rest of the camera and the red striping.

It is a 3D printed grip. I corresponded with the guy some. He made several prototypes before settling on this shape. It is very well done.

Thanks to SpAwN’s recommendation, I purchased a United Scope SE400Z Microscope. It will definitely help me out when soldering small smd devices and adjusting my mechanical watches, etc.

Received a Hakko dual solder dispenser today along with a brand new 1 lb. roll of Kester SN63 0.62 solder. Now I have 0.20, 0.31, and 0.62” solder available at will. BTW, all my solder is leaded SN63. You couldn’t pay me to use lead free.

Got my 2 Aguilar GS112 bass cabinets today. They are being powered an Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 amplifier. I’ve owned a bunch of amps over the course of 39 years. This setup is the best yet!

Got my Epiphone 20th anniversary Jack Casady bass today. It’s on the right. Very happy with it’s quality and sound! This is coming from a bassist with close to 50 years of experience.
