I have the Acebeam and Nitecore TIPs (rated at 360 lmn). They are pretty close until you put the 10440s in it. Then it aint even close. More like my Convoy 18650. Plus I like playing around with the UV and red lights.
Just a fun light. Is it pricey? Yes, but I’m worth it.

I have just asked Banggood if they sell the new UC15 oder the old one. They have opened a ticket to have their sales manager take a look onto it. I’ll probably get more news within the next 48 hours.

From what I can see, Fasttech is $10 less and has the new version. Unless Banggood has a coupon.

How do you know it’s the new version? According to their website I did not find anything referring to the new UI.

Two reasons. First is I own one and second is I contacted Acebeam. From what I understood from Acebeam, anything they were sending to the big vendors was new version.
The lockout works perfectly. From off, you just hold the button down until it flashes 3 times. Reverse to undo. It will cycle thru the red and UV then flash 3 times.
I prefer Fasttech because there is a guy named Noel that will help you on a personal level. He will also return emails. It may take a day due to tiing but he always gets back to you.

Alright, thanks for your feedback. So, I can assume that Banggood also sells the new version with 5 modes and electronic lockout. I recently had contact with Noel and he was very reliable, so I can recommend Fasttech, too. However, there was some talk about Fasttech here that they do not always have things on stock even though they were listed „on stock“, i.e. it could be considered more or less like a dropship business. Unfortunately, I missed the opportunity to use the 10% off coupon yesterday.

I have now received feedback from Banggood...

Thank you for your e-mail.

We have checked the item for you. And it doesn't have lockout feature, but has 3 mode:

Middle Light: Low, Mid, High
Side Light 1: 630nm Red light
Side Light 2: 365nm Purple light

Dang. Good thing you checked. I would not have bought one without the lockout. Mine turned on once in the pocket so I use lockout most of the time now.
I guess you don’t know who to believe.

Emitter swapped the stock emitter for an XPL HI last night.

The beam pattern isn’t quite as nice. There is a ring now. But the tint and throw are improved. Might try a different emitter later.

The UC15 has a copper star.

Well, to be honest…I’m not sure if this answer I got is the only truth. They didn’t tell me anything about how they checked it. I find it hard to believe that they opened up one of these cardboard boxes, inserted some batteries and thoroughly tested the modes and lockout features.

I understand some versions of the UC15 have an electronic lockout? Mine might be an old version as I don’t think mine has it. But I’d like to double-check. How do you activate
the electronic lockout for the version that has it?

From off position, hold button down until 3 white light flashes. It may cycle through the colors, red and UV but will flash. Reverse to undo. As I recall, there were some sold at a discount which I assumed was gettong rid of the older version. Now I don’t know.

I agree. I didn’t want to say it but I don’t believe them. The manufacturer told me otherwise.

I’ve grown quite fond of the UC15. Yes, it’s a little too big to be a keychain light, but gets high marks for power and versatility. The lack of a built in battery is supposed add to the flexibility of choices between 10400, AA and using one instead of two batteries. Still at the highest setting, i get about a half hour of power. (Short of an overnight hike, that should be plenty of power.

You can generally find it priced, with 10400 batteries, at about 50 bucks. Although more potent than the TIP, the TIP gets high marks for the reasonable price, plus the choice of emitter. The all around winner is the Astrolux K1, whose only real fault is that it gets very hot, very quickly.

being a devout Flashaholic, I had to have the UC15, a true pocket rocket. It has some of the brightest red available I think. Fun little offering. I got a blue one.

I use the UC15 on my Subaru keys, a Lumintop Geek on my VW Touran keys and an 18350 Emisar D4 on my house keys.
I like all 3 immensely tbh but no lockout on the UC15v1 sucks, forgetting to lockout the D4 sucks and if you don’t use the Geek for a while it takes a week to remember the UI.

guessing KG got the same revision I did, the earlier one with less modes and no lockout. They really changed the versions quickly as I purchased mine right after it first came out.

I got an Astrolux AO1 on my keychain. 105ish lum.
Fits nicely LOOKS Great. $7.80 USD.
They even do it in copper if you can find one.
Also my Jetbeam Jet1 MK. 450 lumins. $14 ish USD. (82×18mm round)
Both nicer looking with enuff realistic power.
and 3 or 4 for the price of one.

Mine got here today from that cheap amazon deal a few days ago, but I dont think its working correctly, I cant acces red or uv mode, there is no lockout either, been trying nimh, and cant seem to find out anywhere how to get into red/uv mode,

manual says hold from off 2 seconds, but nothing happens, when I eventually let go of button main emitter comes on

Any help or did I get a dud?

the earlier version, like mine , doesn’t have lockout. It only has 3 modes as well. One click to turn light on. While on, hold switch down until red light comes on and then release. While red is on, hold switch down until UV comes on, then release. While light is on in white mode, double click switch to go to next brightness level.

best !

Blackbeard, If I understand you correctly, it sounds like you got a dud.  Or maybe a previous version?

Thanks for responding guys, yeah I have tried everything, but can’t get uv/red mode to turn on. I only have alks and nimh in this size, but I’m pretty sure it’s defective. It’s too bad tho, amazon has no more stock so I can’t get a replacement, just a refund.

My UC15 broke with little use, my 2nd Acebeam to fail.

Good luck getting warranty service with Acebeam, without having to ship it to China. Same with Nitecore

Finally had a chance to test mine out today and it works as advertised, has lockout, etc…

Got it mainly due to the $20 deal, but am also stoked to have the UV light. Had some fun dazzling the kids with their first blacklight experience. Hope it holds up for me.

Just my opinion, but the uv on this light is a joke, compared to something like convoy s2+. Ok for a keychain light, I guess.

I’ve looked at the Convoy UV, but never felt like I’d use it enough to justify the purchase. For the price I paid on the UC15, the UV is almost like a free bonus. I think it works well for what it is, on 10440’s anyway. I don’t doubt there are better options for the UV enthusiasts out there, but I like it.

I think the joke on this light is the red emitter, it’s far too bright for my taste, doubt I’ll ever use it.
