Suggestions on Rear-Click 18650 w/1" dia. for shotgun mount???

Hi everyone,

I figured I would see what everyone had in mind for a bit of an interesting topic…

I am searching for opinions regarding a sturdy flashlight that runs off of 18650 with a mid range that is higher than 300lm, and has a strobe feature. It needs to be able to withstand being mounted to a shotgun via a specialized mount, have a rear button cap. The mount comes with sizing adapters to hold flashlights from 0.70 to 1.05 Inch in diameter (18 to 27 mm) so that would be my main requirement. The light would remain on the shotgun as a means of illuminating hallways and disorienting the assailant, as the shotgun would be strictly for home defense use. It would be a 20 gauge shotgun, meaning the recoil would not be as stout as a 12 gauge, but in any case, the flashlight would have to be able to withstand the force from usage. Trying to keep it under $60

Right now, I am running a Streamlight Polytac, but at its highest level only puts out 275lm… For the money, I know I can find something better, but would really appreciate hearing suggestions from BLF. Thanks in advance!

I have a brand new XT12S that fits perfectly in your category (10, 100, 400, 1600 spaced lumen settings) with tactical setting for instant strobe or outdoor setting for instant low. It is designed to be mounted in 1 inch rings. Great light, but too similar to my XT2CR. I was going to post it with pics soon, would you be interested? I was going to ask 55, shipped when post it.

Hey! Thanks so much for the offer. I am looking over a few options and that was definitely one of them. If I decide to get it I will definitely let you know.

You may already know this… but some lights are specially designed for weapon mount duty with extra bracing at both ends of the 18650 battery. The theory is the battery will destroy the light from the inside due to the forces it produces when the weapon is fired. I haven’t tested it personally, but I have seen lights with this bracing and it always impresses me…

Actually i didn’t know that - thanks for the insight. I have to check my PolyTac to see if this is the case for it, as it came recommended for mounting onto shotguns. I just figured it was due to it being lighter since it is a polymer construction.

Are there any examples of this I can look at?
