Android Chrome browser and the new slow tab switching fashion :-/

Swearing warning first of all. :-)

Posted this thread very recently in the Google Product Forums: Android Chrome and FLICK with the SLOW TAB SWITCHING FASHION :-/

Auto-quoting myself here:

0K, this is what is going on. I am still using Chrome 61. I believe you should care for things like this. In my reality things do not slow down due to prettiness, it usually is quite the contrary for me because fast is pretty.

Cheers

P.S.: Edited for a little bit of language ironing out. :-D

Have you tried switching to a faster animation speed in developer settings?

I think all browsers suck monkey balls nowadays. I’m using, by design, an older version of FFP (portable), because newer versions of FF keep doing retarded things like crashing, when ancient FF would never ever ever crash no matter how hard you pushed them.

The whole batch of FF/Mozilla programmers can DIAF for all I care.

Opera used to be tolerable, but had some quirks that I stopped using it.

Exploder? Don’t make me laff. I’d rather shave my head with a circular-saw.

Chrome? Tried it for a little while, and somehow it managed to piss me off very quickly that I didn’t even consider switching over.

So for me, FF sucks monkey balls ever so slightly less than all the others, and that’s not saying much. They can still go DIAF…

bmengineer, system moronimations are raped in whatever Android device I lay my hands upon. This is a different issue.

I can feel such pain, Lightbringer. Computer user base is nowadays bigger than ever thanks to myriads of information technology devices, this means billions of computer science philistines which to software developing bastards just mean cows to milk (LoL!). This is the reason stock devices come with wrecked software from the factory, though of course they (Googl€, Appl€, etc) know how to sell themselves very well via telling their customer base half-truths.

Exploder? I believe nowadays it's called Edge, doesn't it?

I use Firefox in a very old desktop computer I rarely use nowadays. My main gripe with Android Firefox is bookmark administration, smells like there have been improvements but heck, performance and rendering problems were also present the last time I checked it.

Die in a fire? How about something a bit more explicit:

Cheers

All of Monkey$hit can go DIAF, too. I HATE Winsucks with a passion, especially now with its “I’m ‘updating’ myself whether you want to or not, and right in the middle of whateverTF you’re doing”.

TWICE their f’n update completely killed wifi, which on a laptop turns it into a brick. I had to roll back to the pre-“upgrade” version of the OS just to get wifi working again. And not as in “there’s a problem with your wifi and you can’t connect”, but “you don’t even seem to have a wifi card or whatever in your computer”.

I looked, and looked, and looked, trying to actively blacklist EVERY M$ server in existence, just so it can’t phone home to the mothership anymore, but you can’t block ‘*.microsoft.com’ or anything, but only ranges of IP addresses (which they never give out, probably for reasons like this).

My fix? Quite clever if I might say so. Create a textfile and name it ‘Windows10Upgrade’ or whatever the name is, make it readonly, and turn off every access permission to it, ESPECIALLY to admin. Now, whenever it wants to try that crap again, I get a popup box grexing about “error: can’t create folder as it already exists” or somesuch. Other than that, I have peace’n’quiet.

Seriously, they’re all turning into The Enemy™…

Internet Luddites unite!

Lightbringer, maybe it’s time to try some Linux distro :smiling_imp:

As for browsers (on Android), it’s a choice between bloat (recent versions) or security holes (if you don’t update or are stuck with an older system). I use FF mainly but even on my not so old Android phone (Moto X Style) it is slowwwww AF :stuck_out_tongue:

Can’t. They don’t have email.

There have been some new entries to my thread: Android Chrome and FLICK :-D with the SLOW TAB SWITCHING FASHION :-/

Lightbringer, Windows can work much better. Just a few utilities and some registry hacks can dispatch whatever problems with updates and make it shutdown nearly as fast as a power cord pull.

Android Chrome can be quite nimble but hacks may be required (flags' editing).

Cheers ^:)

Tried ’em all. Killing the daemon, taking it out of the startup menu, disabling / turning off the update settings, going to a metered-connection setting, changing the reg entry for updates, you name it.

I’ll still get regular updates, but it’s the damned “upgrade” (major one they tell you will take a looooong time to finish) that insists on coming up like an unkillable weed, that NOTHING legit seems to turn off. M$ is rather insistent on that.

It’s the damned one that changes the “login screen” from the blue cave one to the reddish desert-cave one, and changes the window-key thingy to a f’n metro-like display.

Seriously, M$ can all go DIAF en masse.

Please.
