What was your first multi emitter light? Mine, if that even counts was the old INOVA X5 floodlight
Nowadays Im keeping my eye on the BLF Q8, as I dont have a modern multi emitter light in my collection yet. I like its output, great beam profile and that pimped out UI. For the price with coupon it is almost steal, just dont really like its design and the lack of lanyard hole, so still somehow hesitating to order.
Is there any other popular option that would come close to the Q8?
I can’t remember either a trustfire TR-J12 or apex 5-T6. Both great lights that have served me very well for 5-6 years. The TRJ12 needed to have its springs wire bypassed, but thats a simple mod.
Being fairly new to quality lights. My first multi was a Sofirn C8F then a Emisar D4 and a BLF Q8. Hoping to add a few more. Looks like they tend to get a bit on the pricey side. Was thinking about a Astrolux MF01.
A fake Skyray King with 7 fake Cree emitters. ice-blue, like 7500K-8000K
The host itself was amazing because it had the shelf and good thermal qualities, but the rest wasn’t up to BLF standards.
My 1st was the tm15, iirc it was around 2500lm and tbh i actually liked it quite a bit. It was also my 1st expensive light or over £100 light, around £120 at the time. I remember thinking to myself how crazy i was, who the beep would spend that kind of money on a torch……………needless to say, that was just the beginning!
I dont have a single nitecore light in my collection………………i can see it staying that way. I like their innovation, but fed up of ice cold angry blue beams.
I wasn’t fan of multi LED lights at first, so my first one was Astrolux S41.
After that BLF Q8, Sofirn C8F, Sofirn C8F4 (version with side switch) and I have S41S in mail…
I started to like them, and my next purchase will be Emisar D4
There were rumors of a Super Shocker replacement, but it never happened unless a halogen flashlight was it.
This flashlight taught me how important balance was, along with good positioning for the control. That led to a Supbeam X60 that was much better in most ways.
I remember those. Its too bad the XP emitters are so drastically physically different than the old XRs. The XPG pretty much obsoleted XRE and all the XRE based hosts…. bummers.
