What’s a Good Replacement for Convoy M1 and XinTD??

Hey all.

Question for you. I have both of these lights and they have worked well until the switch broke in the M1 last month. The XinTD is supposed to be a Thrower and good for a hunting light if you get stuck in the woods looking for a downed critter. I don’t know who made it or the specs but it is a bright light with 4 dimmer modes.

I’m gonna fix the Convoy M1 with the parts and instructions posted in my thread about what to do with it. I’d like to pick up a new light or 2. I’d like to keep the price at under $35 for each.

Can you all suggest replacements for each of these? For the M1 I’d like to have a light that I could put on my nightstand and use anytime I need it. Or maybe even be able to carry it with me if I need to. Just a good general use light.

For the XinTD, I’d like this one to be a thrower. It doesn’t have to light up the woods or anything like that, but I would like it to be at least equal to the XinTD that I have now.

So, would you mind giving me some suggestions or ideas on what would be good replacements for each? What would you buy for yourself if you were in this situation?

Thank you for your time and help.
Larry

First off, you can fix that M1 for cheap. Convoy switches are a dime a dozen. Order a few, they’re so cheap you can’t afford to not keep a spare or two. Get a few switch covers while you’re at it.

The XinTD is a great C8 variant, one of the best I feel. Easily modified if you get the urge, but top notch as-is.

For a general purpose light you might try any one of the Convoy batons - anything “S” - the S2+ is very popular, although I prefer the throwier ‘regular’ S2 with a smooth reflector. You really can’t go wrong with any of them. There’s a new S9 with a side switch (that I haven’t tried) that looks pretty nice too. All great for the nightstand, or to slip in a pocket.

Another extremely well built light is the M2, slightly smaller and more carryable than the M1, but of extraordinarily high build quality. One of my favourites as well. A bit ‘floodier’ than the M1, but a very nice general purpose light.

More throw? Again, Convoy L2 or L6 - a bit more than $35, and a lot bulkier, but a whopping bunch more throw in a good sturdy host.

I prefer the BLF A6 over the Convoy S Series, but it won't be as throwy as a Convoy M1 or M2.
