A new small and exquisite Type-C rechargeable EDC lamp EC65 is going to come out.
ACEBEAM EC65 is a hand held flashlight that can be easily fitted into the palm of hand. There are two different light sources for this EDC lamp: 4* CREE XPL LEDs or 4*Nichia 219C LEDs.
Different from the previous models, ACEBEAM EC65 adopts TIR optics: all new acrylic lens with a honeycomb to produce highly efficient optics with a huge variety of beam shapes. 4* CREE XPL LEDs verion is equipped with smooth TIR lens with an extra long range beam of 207 meters. 4*Nichia 219C LEDs version is featured by an orange peel TIR lens with a max beam distance 142 meters.
The toughened ultra-clear tempered glass lens with anti-reflective coating gives EC65 about 98.3% transmittance, makes the flashlight truly usable in every condition.
The five different brightness levels can be quickly selected by the functional switch on the side continuously: Firefly – Low – Mid – High – Turbo which can be widely used for reading, searching, camping, caving, rescuing, etc.. From the firefly mode 20 lumens to Turbo mode 3800 lumens for 4* CREE XPL LEDs verion, and firefly mode 20 lumens to Turbo mode 2200 lumens for 4*Nichia 219C LEDs version, EC65 has the max running time about 3.8 days at the lowest brightness 20 lumens for both versions.
The built-in charging function charges 21700 or 18650 Li-ion battery through the newest Type-C USB charging port, which is with 3 times speed of the traditional Micro-USB input. There is an indicator beside the side switch, when the indicator shows red, it means the flashlight is under charging; and when the indicator shows green, means the flashlight is fully charged and prepared well for its mission.
EC65 is made up of durable aircraft grade aluminum with Premium Type III Hard Anodized Anti-abrasive finish. Also thanks to the excellent knurling throughout the surface of the entire light, ensures EC65 firm grip even with water or sweat in hand when you most need it.
There is no need to worry at all if you need to use EC65 in wet condition, because it can even be immersed in a depth of about 5 meters without getting damaged.
EC65 is also capable of standing up securely on a flat surface to use in “candle mode”.
EC65 is a very powerful flashlight in a compact and lightweight size. Overall length is 114.5mm with 30mm head diameter and 27mm tube diameter, weight is 82g excluding batteries.
EC65’s relatively tiny size and very bright beam make it a good choice for many different outdoor applications.

Does this mean that you are going to offer swappable optics with the light either bundled or as separately purchasable accessories?
Looking good sofar, I like the looks, and that it uses 21700.
‘firefly’ = 20 lumenTwo concerns (from Acebeam website):
MSRP $136.90

Yes, please make the lowest mode much lower, preferably around 0.5 lumens.
good deal
let me get money from the tree
This seems a very nice light
I’ve been keeping an eye on it, but it is definitely out of my budget!
About the Moonlight mode, I agree with some comments above! This seems a great light, though

Looks good BUT the price…
I’ve always had interest in Acebeam, but I don’t own one yet. This is definitely a light I’m interested in. And I’m also willing to spend $136.90 on a light.
But I would never ever spend $136.90 on this light. Emisar D4 is $40 you know…
Price….. lmao
There are very similar lights 4x cheaper.
GL with your sales anyway.

When you’re born you get a ticket to the freak show. When you’re born in America, you get a front-row seat.
What makes the EC65 stand out over the D4 is the 21700 battery (ATM 40% more runtime) and that it is USB rechargable (USB-C is for me a good choice).

Generally looking good, but the MSRP seems to be off. Astrolux has S41/S41S/S42/S42S, which (i know) is not accepting 21700, but can do a proper firefly mode, and is available almost every time in the range of $30-50 (depending exact version, and including 18650 tube price, too).
Lacking a proper firefly mode, and accepting the 21700 (ok, it is rechargeable too) battery bumps the price with additional $85+? LOL
I’d suggest $80-90, and it could be called a fair deal – but first, please add a proper firefly mode (and/or ramping) – and please support custom emitter choices by selling heads separately for DIY.
(Also, specs are missing that the XPL version is XPL or XPL-HI or XP-L2 or XP-L2 HI.)
This is true. The 21700 format gives this light a “next gen” status, with of course the added performance. However, from a manufacturer’s point of view this cell requires only the battery tube to have slightly different dimensions; there is absolutely no increase in production or development cost. The USB-C charger is also very nice and next gen, but I don’t think this feature should increase cost too much.
It is true that a flashlight is more than the sum of its components making this light far more superior than the D4 for many people, and hence the asking price can certainly be justified.
Will the USB-C port allow power bank use as well, or is it only for charging the light?
is it worth nearly 100$? i dont think so
Forgot my pen
I think I agree, also because the user interface is likely worse than the D4. But the EC65 still looks good

Thinking of those nice Emisars, I can’t wait for Hank to surprise us with a D7 or D12, if it was feasable.
Its a nice light, but pricing should be $70-$80 tops imho, certainly not over near or over $100.
21700 tube wont cost anything more than an 18650(ok maybe a few cents more).
I will run 18650 and USB does not bother me, if anything its just something extra to fail anyway. Also adds an ingress risk/point. So for $40-$60 the D4 still makes more sense imo.
+1
That is what I was thinking as well.
The price just keeps creeping up. Now listed at $139.90.
Maybe USB-C ports are really expensive? This light is quickly falling outside of something that a budget light forum will be interested in…
I think it was with the X45 how it was priced something like $210 or so. I thought it was not bad, and people also commented on CPF that the price was good (http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?430521-Acebeam-X45). Then Acebeam jacked up the price and is currently advertised on their website for $274. Not cool.
Their site doesn’t say much: USB -C is bi-directional charging?
Was a big “new” thing a couple years back and anything with C port was $$$.
And then, OTG charging is usually a fallback option – I prefer standard µUSB as always charger/cable laying about.
Doubt the UI would be better than Narsil (D4). But then, no strobe (personally, feel this may be going in the right direction).
Newer 21700 cell is ok, but not at jacked up price.
But they do optimize the capacity with outputs. And offering two emitter options for different uses is a positive. Doubt they would offer options for the DIY enthusiasts.
I have to put this on my wishlist oh wait there are already plenty of other Acebeam flashlights on the list.

I like it but like other comments, too expensive, no real firefly and not a fan of type C usb…
The 21700 is however a BIG plus for me.
Now this is getting interesting.
Latest update on the page shows that you can choose between XHP35 Hi and Nichia 90+ CRI. No mention of 219C anymore.
Lumens are also up to 4000 from 3800 with the XP-Ls and throw from 10700 to 13300cd.
Nichia up to 2500 lm from 2200.
Acebeam has never been budget anyway…
However, this is a nice start, now let us see the true final product. You know, the one with a TRUE low mode that everyone ask on every flashlight for years (<1 lumen) and that half manufacturers don’t even bother to listen…
"Hey -X3-, do you have a flashlight ?" "-X3-, can I borrow one of your flashlights ?"
