Dead Tenergy Image

Here is what a new in the package, dead Tenergy protected cell looks like. Battery looked in mint condition on the outside, but you see the problem inside. Scary stuff...

Ekk! Corrosion galore! Are these actually "new"? Did you buy these from ebay? More information needed please.

Also, please post your purchase link.

If you bought it from marrsinc did you write them? As reputable as they are surely they will replace it for free. Boaz mentioned that these were from an insurance buy from a warehouse fire. From what I've read Marrs customer service is first rate. Email them and let us know the outcome.

I got 8 of these to give away as christmas gift. Now i'm afraid to give them away.

Do you know if this was true of all the Tenergy batteries they sell (not just 18650)?

Marrs buys insurance claims. I do know they they have a stellar Ebay feedback of 99.8% on 30,0000+ customers. Got to believe all of the battery, flashlight, chargers,etc... came from the same insurance claim. Boaz, ChicagoX and other outstanding members have given them rave reviews as a seller of quality items at a budget price. All 144 batteries (8@18650s, 8@Ds , 4@Cs, 12@AAAs, 12@AAs, 96@AAs tabbed, & 4@4/3AF NiMH) and charger I have purchased have been fine. One dead battery with some corrosion surely can't be an issue. Read the link (Boaz post) to see where the items came from... https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/4487

BTW...Just smelled the cardboard box the charger came in and NO smoke scent

NO idea if they treat their stuff...and this is kind of irrelevant lol...but my parents had a fire in their house and the insurance company paid some company to bring in an ozone generator. nothing had any scent after that (drapes, furniture, etc.). Incredible piece of equipment - it must save insurances companies BIG money...

I got 4 of them and they looked perfect. They all charged up and work fine. I haven't run a discharge test, but

I did order 12 more. I'm looking forward to them working well after useing my 4 and reading about others from BLF members. I too plan on giving them as gifts. If I worry about anything it will be the charger I give along with the Tenergy batterys.

I was pleasantly surprised with a new battery in the mailbox this evening. Very fast service on the replacement!

It seems that dead battery was water damaged, and some electrolysis happened, but it looked perfect on the outside.

I'm checking my other batteries at work. They all charged-up fine.

I purchased 12 of them. Just don't drop them on a hard floor or tile!

If the other 11 stay-the-course, I'll be a happy camper.

no issues with the four tenergy 18650's i just received other than the broken wrappers. they took a gawd awful long time to charge on my 500ma charger. i suspect they have a good amount of capacity to them.

monty

I also had a house fire years ago. They used the generators in the attic and garage, and house.

The ionized mist must bind with particles and seal them.

I wound-up in the hospital with mild CO poisoning, and major toxic poisoning.

Happy to be here after that one...but left some brain cells behind, somewhere.Laughing

Final thoughts on the subject:

I'll have no more of these cells. Brittle wrapper.

Also, my trust of these cells has been shaken a bit, by what they've been through before I received them.

I will not be giving them away as gifts, as I had planned.

That is smart....rewrap them and use them yourself

Thanks for all your business and sorry for the problems.

Wow, that's pretty horrible. The best way to check the health of your batteries is to measure it's internal resistance. Corrosion would add a substantial amount of resistance.
