Emisar D4 Cyan - Pictures Only!

Hello, I just received my Emisar D4 today, in Cyan colour with Cree XPL-HI Leds. I bought it from Intl-outdoor, the XPL-HI version is $18 more expensive than other version. There are already many reviews for this flashlight so i this thread will be almost picture only.

What is not perfect in this flashlight?
.
.
Firstly, the quad optics isn’t in perfect angle as in these two photos below, it a bit hard to see in the photos but i can see clearly that the carlo optics is sloped to one side, this is because the optics is smaller than the O-ring.

The O-ring was originally placed between the optics and the glass lens. I placed the O -ring above the glass, so the lens and the optics now in direct contact. This fixed the problem and would give a better water resistance.

.
Secondly, the tailcap is not thick enough for me, looks a bit fragile!

.
.
Finally, there are two flickers when the light ramping from dimmest to brightest.
[Update]
This is not a flaw but the blinks indicate when FET is used and when at 100% brightness, thanks for correcting me.

Conclusion
This Emisar D4 is very compact and is my first light with side switch and ramping UI, its turns out that i quite like them. In max brightness the light becomes warm quickly, which might indicate that the heat transfer is good. The tint of the Cree XPL-HI is very good if not compared side by side to Nichia 219B R9080. It is very likely that i will order another soon and mod them with my Nichias. This is a good flashlight, i recommend it if you haven’t had one.
Cheers :+1:

Please note, the flickers are part of the UI. One at 50% and one at 100% power. They are to help you gauge where in the ramping you are.

More like 4% and 100%.

Thanks for the note, sorry didn’t know about that feature

I opened the optic to see the leds and notice some round mark on the led, it is very likely that the optic touched the leds

I like the color of the this light, blue/cyan is a welcome change. thanks for the review.

The first flicker is at the maximum of the 7135 regulator, at about 150lm.
Above the FET takes over.
If you reset the battery power, the last memorized level will also reset to this 150 / 160lm.
If you set the lamp to this level, it helps also to guess the resulting runtime.

The second flicker is to indicate the top of the ramp and you can stop pushing the button.

Im surprised how yellow the tint is on your D4. All of my Emisars with 5D tint XPL HI is more rosy in color than my 219BT. My D4 5D tint is by far the rosiest tint Ive ever seen. What tint did you get on your 5D?

Mine is also 5D tint, as i mentioned the tint look very good and quite rosy if not compared side by side to nichia 219b r9080. If your Xpl-Hi looks more rosy than your 219b, I guess it isn’t the R9080 one, because i have 10+ lights with different leds, some look good by itself but when compared side by side to the 219b R9080 sw45k, they become either yellow or green

How hot/strong is the output of this flashlight?

ok this is what happen you ramping from off to max and then ramping to moon immediately!

Try it on a crisp packet (potato chips USA) it will shrivel up & melt.

I bought two triples 219bt from PflexPro and they source it from Mountain Electronics. MTN should be R9080 but not sure. I have about 100 flashlights and the 219 is rosier than the majority of the 4000k lights, but nowhere near as rosy as the Emisar D4 that I bought in December last year. However, the M43 I bought more recently with the same 5D XPL HI was much more yellow/orange than the D4 so I guess yours is probably from the more recent batch of XPL HI.

I got two new D4, modded one with nichia 219b r9080 sw45k (left), become my favourite, almost perfect EDC flashlight
