DESCRIPTION AND TECHNICAL DATA:

Nitecore EC22 is one of the new Nitecore compact torches ideal for off-road explorations. What distinguishes this new torch is to have the continuous variation of brightness through the rotating ring on the head (from 0.5 to 1000 lumens).
The Nitecore EC22 can be powered by a 3.7V 18650 rechargeable battery or 2x 3.0 / 3.7V disposable / rechargeable CR123A batteries. It is equipped with a CREE XP-L HD V6 LED and its radius can reach 185 meters of shooting with 8600cd. The torch has IPX8 water protection rating. It is equipped with the ATR (Advanced Temperature Regulation) module which adapts the light output according to the external environmental conditions.

The new Nitecore EDC has a compact size and handles well, also considering the weight of only 77 grams (without battery). In the dark we have no difficulty in finding the rotating bezel that allows us to light the flashlight by turning the wheel clockwise and then going to vary the brightness from 0.5 lumens to 1000 lumens. This operation can also be done with just the thumb of the hand.

The Nitecore Ec22 consists of three parts, head, body and tail.

On the head of the EC22 we notice a crenelled bezel and the SMO (smooth) parabola with the CREE XP-HD V6 LED in the middle. The glass has anti-reflective treatment.

On the side there is the rotating ring that allows continuous brightness adjustment. This adjustment is very fluid and can be done even with a finger. The rotation is facilitated by the knurling on the upper part of the ring. Turn clockwise to turn ON the flashlight (you will hear a slight click) and continuing to increase the light output going from 0.5 lumens up to 1000 lumens. At this point the ring nut stops and it is only possible to go back (counterclockwise) to the lowest brightness and continuing to turn OFF the torch.

The central body of the Nitecore EC22 has a non-slip knurling that facilitates grip even in difficult situations (sweaty, wet hands, etc.). Good lettering on the torch.

There are two O-rings that guarantee water tightness (IPX8) on the body of the EC22, one towards the head and one towards the tail.

The threads arrive well greased and the torch body thicknesses are normal.

To the positive we find a mechanism for the protection of the reverse polarity, while to the negative we have a spring plated to prevent the risk of oxidation. The Nitecore EC22 works with both button top and flat top batteries.

The tailcap has two holes for inserting the wrist lanyard. The Nitecore EC22 can be put in tail standing (candle).

USER INTERFACE (UI):

The way the Nitecore EC22 is used is very simple, having only the rotary selector to carry out all the operations.

ON/OFF:

To switch ON: When the light is off, rotate the rotary switch in a

clockwise direction as shown the picture until a “click” sound is

heard.

To switch OFF: When the light is on, rotate the rotary switch in a

counter-clockwise direction until a “click” sound is heard.

Adjusting Brightness Level

The EC22 allows ininite brightness adjustment.

When the light is on, rotate the switch in a clockwise direction as shown in the diagram, the

brightness level will be changed from 0.5 lumen to 1000 lumens. Brightness is adjusted in

reverse from 1000 lumens to 0.5 lumen by rotating the switch in a counter-clockwise direction.

ATR (Advanced Temperature Regulation):

With Advanced Temperature Regulation module, the EC22 regulates its output and adapts to

the ambient environment, maintaining optimal performance.

BEAM, RUNTIME and BEAMSHOT:

The beam of Nitecore EC22 is pleasant without strange artifacts and the color is a nice cool white. The spot tends close to the yellow / green. The distance of the spill from the feet is about 60 cm.
The Nitecore Ec22 is a torch with a good lighting angle and a sufficient shot.

Runtime:

The runtime was done using a fully charged 3200 mAh protected Nitecore battery. The test was also done using a small fan.

CONCLUSIONS:

The Nitecore EC22 is the maximum of simplicity and at the same time a torch that can be used in many situations. Good materials, dimensions and weight, appreciable also the working time (runtime).
