Anything good under 25€ available in Germany within 3 days?

Hey there,

I’m in kind of a rush, will be going on a trip next week and I just found out that my old trusty Maglite is nowhere to be found. So I would like to get something new.

I like it to be small, so one *18650 *would be great. I have tons of those batteries from vaping so battery and charger is no problem. (Do all these flashlights take Flat-Top 18650s and is it ok to use unprotectet ones?)

I’m also into electronics in general, and I really like to dive into the world of LED flashlights and mod the hell out of it at a later time. But for now, I just need something that is readily available in Germany for max 25€ and can be here before Wednesday.

As I said, I dont really have the time to dig through the forums for hours right now but I’d love to do that at a later time. So far I found the Convoy S2+ to be in my price range (even when shipping from Europe) and from what I read do far it seems to be moddable later on and pretty good as it is, is that right?

check for Sofirn, Thorfire and similar brands on Amazon.
Convoy is a great brand and light, but I doubt you’ll get one within 3 days, UNLESS someone on ebay is selling one locally. AFAIK local Amazon storefronts don’t have Convoy.

Thorfire C8S from Amazon will be very close to your budget, is easy to mod and a great light. At least one C8 is just about compulsory for BLF membership :stuck_out_tongue:

So you think its worth, getting that S2+? There are some on ebay and “german craigslist” (ebay kleinanzeigen) for about 15€.
You thinks its worth getting the S2+ XPL-HI for 30 bucks? Or is the regular S2+ for half that just fine?

I looks so huge. But i guess its just the reflector being 1cm wider than the S2…?

The S2 compared with S2+ is a little longer.
It all depends on your needs, i have several S2+ lights, the most i care about is the tint and the beam.
A regular S2+ with XML2 will do fine for me, as long as it is not cold blue (6000+ K)
The XPL-HI will have a more narrow beam and as a result will have more ‘throw’

If you mean the C8 looks huge, yes, C8 lights are much wider than an S2, but also throw much further. If a tube style light is the biggest you are looking for, then S2 is what you want.

If you plan on modding your S2+ and don’t care if it is a slightly tighter beam or slightly wider beam just buy the colour you like best.

I would get the S2+ or S2 (depending on what you like) IF you can get one quickly. 3 days is not a lot of time and most likely only Amazon would make it to you that quickly.

All my Convoy stuff comes directly from China, so I can’t say anything about local sellers. 30 bucks sounds expensive though but local importers also want to make a living.

Also a decent choice:

Wow, that USB Charable Battery is something new  Never seen one of those  Anyways, I’m using Konions and LG HG2 here for my vapes, so I dont really need that.

I am batering for a S2+ (T6-4C 5000k) right now. Maybe I’ll get it for about 15€ incl. shipping. If I had the choice, I would go for a warmer LED, (at home I never use anything above 4000k) anything colder hurty my eyes  But switiching the emitter can be my first mods later

I also like ± 4000k best for flashlights. But if you are also using the light for things during daytime than 5000k is a great allround color temp. 4000k seems yellow fompared to daylight.

Cant go wrong with a S2+.

OK, i bought the S2+ for 13€ incl. shipping, I think thats quite reasonable. Thanks for your help!

What kind of 4000k emitter would you reconmend for that, I guess I’ll order that one from china so I can do it now and start modding as soon as it arrives

There is a lot to chose from. I would try the light first and see how you like the beam.

In short:

If you like it as is but just want to change the colortemp than go for a xml2 5D ( probably also works best in the reflector you have).

If you want more cri than go for a nichia 219c.

If you want more throw than go XPL hi.

All choices under one roof, you need a led on a 16mm board.

The T6-4C is NOT 5000K, it is more like 4000K, its quite warm, it won’t disappoint you

Thnx for the iput yokiamy, you are totally right. 4c is not a bad tint, I’d place the ones I have had around 4500k. Just try the light ebivan.

If you do want to change the led, most people like the tints below the BBL in the graph better (A’s and D’s) more rosy and less green/yellow.

Ebivan, did you buy it in Europe? Where did you buy it?
Because 13€ for an S2+ with T6-4C are common prices from Banggood, not very common in EU.

I bought it on Ebay Kleinanzeigen (which is a something like Craigslist of Gumtree, that is maintained by Ebay, to ensure the their dominating position in the German market and to make sure this free, little ebay is cut of almost all features to promote the real ebay… so it is from a guy that orderd multiple variants in China and finally decided to take the more yellowish one and sold of the rest.

Thanks for the nice graph, i didn’t notice that in the datasheet. I guess I will check out mine before ordering something.

If you got the 4C emitter in the S2+, you don’t need to do anything, at least not to the emitter.

Get a 20mm TIR lens in whatever spread you want (60° for flood, 5°/8°/10° for spot), and just replace the reflector with that. Beautiful tint, your choice of beam, all the colors are mixed so nicely, no fried-egg beam (yellow in the center, blue at the edges) because of the reflector.

TIRs rule…

Hey, wanted to give you guys a little update. The flashlight is already here. Glad I was still at home when the mail guy came around.

First of all, (since is my first cheap china led flashlight) I’m really impressed with the built qualitiy of this thing! There are no ridges or egdres in the threads everything fits together nice and tight. I really belive that thing is waterproof. Really nice!

So I got the T6-4C x4 version of that light. Which I guess is perfect for the trip I’ll be taking this week when it comes to battery usage and heat emission and light color. You were right, its absolutly right and not to cold ( blueish for my taste. I guess I wouldn’t wanna have any more power in such a small chassis. Cant wait for tonight and testing it outside in the dark.

Now I guess you got me hooked on that stuff. After spending an hour with that nice little torch in my hands, I want something bigger to play around with later. So, whats the next step? Are all convoy branded torches the same built quality? If so, is the C8 any good? From the looks of it, it has a little more headroom for higher powered emitters, because it has these cooling fins on the outside. Or is there another host thats kind of the flashlight modders first choice when it comes to buliding the first custom light?

so that addiction begins……try Sofirn C8A for next step
