I thought when he said it was a sliced SST-40, he meant de-domed. Maybe not?

Nope, sliced, pretty close. Grabbed it from MTN. Finish on the remaining silicone is as smooth as glass.

He’s OOS at the moment though. http://www.mtnelectronics.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=60_13...

After-work edit:
I was off on my number a little bit. Still working on my sphere multiplier, but I got 1844 lumens (+ or -) and 131,551 candela for 725 meters of throw, measured at 20’ with an HS1010a

Richard puts LEDSeal on it after he slices it, which is why it’s “smooth as glass” Wink

I got my host today.
I’m going to put a shaved SST40 led in it with a fet driver and make a yellow lighted tailcap.

I don’t much like the styling of this; it’s basically just ‘fins everywhere’

It is too ringy but it is good for heat sinking. I hope the led shelf going to be thicker in later batches. This one is the same as old C8

Sorry if this was said before, i may have missed it, but does the C8 SS bezel fit on the C8+?
It would look great on the tan body imo – and i have a spare one in need of a host.

Yes. And also the tube threads are the same.

Yes, I bought 2 Convoy C8’s: one with a 3A tint, and one with a 7A tint. The 7A tint is by far my favourite. If you like warm tints, you’ll love it. I use it mostly indoors for a nice incandescent look. Probably a little too warm for outdoors, but still works well outside.

Mine, too (U4-7A) even though it was OOS yesterday when I ordered it. Sometimes miracles happen. Smile

My C8+ host finished.
shaved and polished SST40 led, TA OTSM driver, yellow lighted tailcap switch.
It draws 9.3A
Output: 2037 lumens
Intensity: 125525 cd
Throw:702m
I got nice hot spot without tint shift and smooth beam.

The grey gate is about 40m and the trees behind about 100m distance from me.

Nice work Zozz! Looks really good, that beam profile is what I like to see. Guess I know what I’ll be doing if/when I get one of these… Big Smile

Very nice indeed Zozz, everything done well and very complete too with the yellow tailcap.

Speaking of that lighted tail cap, I just built an FET for an X6 that is straightforward, old style, no 7135 chip… this particular X6 already had a single LED in the tail cap and it works… how does it work if I didn’t put a bleeder resistor on the driver?

I build them myself with Oshpark PCB-s designed by Pilotdog68.
You can find more info about them here.
I needed to use bleeder resistor on driver. But I bought this flashlight as an empty host so the internals are not stock. you can not buy a C8+ with this driver and led in stock form.

Nice! Thanks for posting the photo with an SS bezel.

Is that the desert tan S2+ with 18350? If so is the color an exact match with the C8+? (it appears to be)

Love the colour, the C8+ needs GITD somewhere though!

Yes, thats an S2+ with 18350 Tube.
The colors matching not exactly, but i think 99,5%. Thats tolerance of the anodisation process.

Okay my c8+ arrived today, the 3000k tint is awesome my new fav color in the c8. The grip on the new model is alot better too, this will not easy fall out of your hands which is very good i didnt expect that.. some crappy pics here compared to the c8 clear in cool white xpl..

I just received my tan C8+.
Nice change for this classic, although “too many fins” would come to mind.
The SS bezel on it looks great too.

One thing i’d like Simon to think about is BETTER PACKAGING!
I would be willing to pay extra for some decent packaging i would not be ashamed to gift out.

Packaging is extra cost. Extra cost that in the majority of the cases is thrown away. Do we want inexpensive lights that work well or well dressed lights that cost a lot? Lines have to be drawn somewhere. Convoy is a small company, offering an excellent product at a great price. Pretty sure we all want him to keep it that way. Wink

I got my first C8+ day before yesterday (Thanks JDub, for making that happen! Big Smile ) , added some chips (5) and it’s still just not a nice color for me. (3000K is it? What’s that, 4C?) That’s gotta go….
