Ever watch the tv show called “Hamish Macbeth”? Ran for two seasons in Scottland about 23 years ago. Acorn TV offers the show now. Have little use for a UV light. Absolutely sure I would blind myself with it. I do have a Jetbeam UV flashlight. Never even turned it on.

Watched “ All creatures great and small “ on PBS when I was young. My question to you Mr. Crx what is the most realistic TV production portraying Scottish life? I think most American TV is absolute rubbish in regards to portraying American life. I hear some insects and plants look super cool under UV light. Anyone in BLF world able to do such photography. I am not.

Thanks for five years of nice, interesting and Cool posts without getting on my nerves at all. Smile

Not in because I have many UV-lights already, and although this one is really cool, someone without UV lights deserves it more.

Here’s two interesting UV pictures: detail of a 20 euro note illuminated with 365nm light and 270nm light.

“I used to think that top environmental problems were biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse and climate change. I thought that thirty years of good science could address these problems. I was wrong. The top environmental problems are selfishness, greed and apathy, and to deal with these we need a cultural and spiritual transformation. And we scientists don’t know how to do that.”   (Gus Speth)

Thanks for all your submissions! I don’t have any UV lights to make you artwork with, but I’ve commented on your mods before!

I thought of buying a UV light just because I don’t have any, but I figured I really didn’t want to know how dirty hotel rooms are. If I win, I’ll be sure to report back…

I believe this is what the infamous “no true Scotsman” looks like under UV light.

I’d like to find out for myself, if only I had one.
Or even a UV light.

Once I can identify a no true Scotsman, I’m going to have him reflectored, from sporran to swich.

Beam me up!

Didn’t think UV LED’s phosphoresce like that?

At least the simple 5mm one I modded doesn’t but that’s because it’s not a CRX creation.

Move towards the light.

Same here, none really accurately portray, more like trying to project though I don’t watch much TV, can’t stand the dumb adverts every ten minutes and don’t like unnecessary drama. Do like Sci-Fi though.

Congratulations on your first five years, CRX Party

You have imposed a lot of rules on this GAW, a few of which have the same effect on me as an thread without title that says “deleted, don’t respond” or as a bottle of Heineken (reaches parts other beers can’t reach).
My personal opinion is that rules can be useless, doubtfull, or useful.

Useless, like:
- It is illegal to die in the Houses of Parliament. (note by me: When you gotta go, you gotta GO !!)

Doubtful, like:
- In the city of York (England) it is legal to murder a Scotsman within the ancient city walls,
but only if he is carrying a bow and arrow

Useful, like:
- In Scotland, if someone knocks on your door and requires the use of your toilet, you must let them enter
- The 50 pound-note in your picture is printed by the Bank of Clydesdale, one of three Scottish banks licensed to print their own bank-notes. These notes are accepted as legal payment in all of Scotland.

BTW Other countries may also have useful rules/laws. Like in Alabama, it is illegal to be blindfolded while driving a vehicle

Need I say that you DON’T have to count me in on this GAW.

- I already have more UV lights than I care to admit
- I already have won a CRX light. A few days ago I showed that copper beauty to a few friends (of the female persuasion) and I had a hard time getting it back Davie

I always think long and hard before I say something really stupid.

Awww come on, I thought it was a cry for help to brighten up your day… honest Innocent

The fact that I get disqualified as a result is a moot point.

Sorry if I offended.

CRX, are you referring to the fact that this custom creation is actually made of two DQG 1/2-AA extension tubes rather than a complete DQG Slim? Although that’s more creativity than anomoly, so…

Move towards the light.

Congratulations on the five years membership.

And thank you very much for all you great posts with one spectacular flashlight after another. They show so much ingenuity and craftsmanship, please keep them coming.

Not in for the GAW I have more than enough flashlights as it is, including five UV flashlights.
