Nope, the 18650 tubes are different and there’s no 18350 for D1S.

The D1S also has a 18350 tube I’m pretty sure. The same as the D4 shorty tube.

I don’t think a shorty tube has been offered with the D1S

The D1S has a deeper thread at the tube to head connection. It can use the short tube of the D4 IF the user makes some adjustments. There are copper crush washers that come in handy in times like these, Kawiboy found them to work very nicely and I too have found them to be useful. Occasionally one fits without adjustment, other times some filing or sanding may be necessary. But at any rate the copper washer works as a spacer between the driver ground ring and the battery tube to allow the short tube to make contact. Wink

Hello, this is my first post on BudgetLightForums and a week ago I got my GT Mini in the mail from Neal. I noticed that the backlight button is weirdly backlit, not like other GT Mini’s, and at some times its very unresponsive, one time I couldn’t turn the light off for 2 minutes because the button won’t do anything. I hope the button will break in with use and work normally. Here are some links to pictures of the backlight button:

all gt minis are backlit like that, mine looks more or less the same like yours. Its clearly that there is an issue with the buttons sadly on some lights. But if u have on a brand new light already a button thats unresponsive i dont think it will get better overtime, mine worked perfect for almost a month then suddenly one day unresponsive…

I hope they will cover us that has issues with this, its clearly something that should go under warranty and i mean 40$ i expected better quality overall..

Sometimes when I try to turn on the light it recognizes one click as two and goes straight to turbo or recognizes 3 clicks and goes to battery check mode, that is frustrating, but overall I like this light.

Yes same problem i have, the light is useless as its defective that way since its a gamble when it will turn on or off or even go turbo no matter if u click ten times not normal behaviour, send Neal a mail and ask for replacement head or something. Even if its just a few under 10 people so far out of 3-400 users its still not fun for the few of use that got the a defective light either at once or after a months use…

Even if they offered a replacement driver, which is relatively easy to swap by soldering two wires, most people still couldn’t do it because the bezel is glued shut. So it definitely needs to be a warranty issue. This is the flip side to gluing your lights.
Yep Jason…. well said. Thumbs Up
Especially when some of the bezels are glued ‘extremely well’to say the very least. Facepalm

Still a lot to be said for driver retaining rings, threaded switch retaining rings, and no glue. Wink

well so is mine, its not perfect centered the so called smiley Smile its a bit off but not as off as his no but still….

I asked Neal if maybe a replacement head is an option to send, since that is easy just unscrew and it would probably work but if they dont want do that i have wasted 40$ on a light i will not use since its defective and warranty for a light thats 1 month old should cover normal use…

PS: Also because I’m a little soured on the whole beheading thing. Wink

Just reviewing the GT mini for youtube, first thing I’ve noticed is my GT has strobes from default. Nice light tbh, the aluminium is very very soft though.

They all do. I think Lumintop used a slightly different version of NarsilM than they were supposed to. Still v1.3.

3 valves per cylinder? The hell? Where is that head from?

There’s no replacement for displacement.

I really don’t know… it was just a ‘stock picture’ with no info.

3 valve is pretty common. A lot of Ford 4.6 and 5.4 have them. No big whoop.

3V Cylinder Head Bare 2.190/1.650” Valve 225 Cc Intake – 60 Cc Chamber – Ford Cleveland/Modified
Brand Name: CYLINDER HEAD INNOVATIONS

Part Number: SBF3V225B-60

Description:

The all new 3V 225cc cylinder heads replace the older 218cc heads and are suited for use on competition and serious street engines of 400+ cubic inches in size and making up to and in excess of 650+hp. The new 225cc feature the same minimum cross section (2.4) as the 218cc intake ports are designed to deliver maximum power and torque, for those people not concerned by RPM limitations, but rather wanting to make the most possible torque and horsepower for their competition to wild street power plants.

Oh yeah, $852 each and of course it takes two. Silly

That’s not a Ford head 100% for sure. Atleast not from a modern 3-valve 4.6L/5.4L. For one the valve arrangement is wrong (Ford heads have the single exhaust valve centered), plus if we were to say just for s&g’s thay maybe those were aftermarket Ford heads with non-factory valve geometry we’d still be able to prove that wrong as the intake ports are no where near correct. Not only would the ports not line up but the two decks (head to intake manifold) wouldn’t meet up at all on those things.

I’ll bet money those arnt Ford 3v heads. Hell it could even be an i4 head off who knows what.

I google searched by the stamped in coding, and it came back as a Ford head. A custom racing Ford head.

Neither your money loss nor Teacher’s best intent helps me much though, and it was his offering of 3 choices to help me that got all this started. Best intentions and all that…
