TOO MANY notifications

First of all I want to say I think this forum is great, really, with good, nonassertive moderation and administration etc.

But the following is somewhat big problem for me and maybe for lot of others:

For every post on the thread Im subscribed I receive several notifications. Its not rare to get 5 or more email notifications for one single post. Probably everytime when someone edits the post, you receive notification.

I think one notification would be enough. This is quite a problem vbecause in onme day you can easily get 50 notifications from BLF, 50 emails, and you have to delete 40 of them because they are double notifications...

Maybe there is option in forum CP to turn off double email notifications, or email notofications for eveyery edit of one post.

PS: Also, unsuscribe link in the emails doesnt work. I always get the "you are not authorised to acces this page" when I click on it. SO I can unsubscribe only via link at the bottom of the first post in the thread, whis is also awkward.

one notification per thread till you visite next ? im getting way to many emails a day

I just turn off email notifications altogether. I visit the site everyday anyway and there’s My Watch Post to keep track of threads I like.

is there a way to not auto subscribe to threads when I post in them?

yeah, it's in account settings somewhere. i had to turn it off at some point.

I don’t get any email notifications so there must be some way to turn them off

What he said. I get no email notifications, turned it off in account settings.

+1

Go to "my account" then to "my watched posts" then the "settings" tab under that and uncheck any of the email notification boxes and then save settings Embarassed

Yea I sometimes get like 3 on the same post. It gets to be annoying. Something ain't set up right.

The multiple emails per post is probably due to editing.

What I'd like to have is the ability to read the entire post in the email, not just the first line. It's easier to follow a thread through update emails than through the forum.

Not a solution, but a workaround: you could use Gmail, which groups duplicate emails into conversations (Google's name for a threaded view, sort of like Usenet readers and many MUAs used back in the day). You can also easily archive or delete a whole conversation with a single click or add procmail-like filters.

There are quite a few options to customize when the system sends you an email notification. There is an option to disable notifications when the original post is updated or edited. There is also an option to configure whether it automatically subscribes you when you post in a thread. You can change these options in your account settings under "My Watched Posts" > "Settings".

Unfortunately, there is currently not a way to make the system send comment notifications just one time until you return to view the thread. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Thanks, hope it helps you out anyway. I checked the default setting, and it currently has post edit notifications disabled by default. I think I must have changed that default after you signed up on BLF.

I'll give that a go, thanks for your time

sb56637,

First, thanks for all you do here - awesome site! I just noticed the option to not get notified when someone edits a post - is that something new? Mine is current unchecked, but just last week I was notified probably 6 times when someone created a new reply and edited that reply 5 times. I'm just wondering if something isn't working right, or if that feature was just added.
