Nothing worst than with any website outside of china. Your payment is encrypted like anywhere else with https.
I made hundreds of “cyber” payments before paypal exists and never had a problem. I’m never using “the one click” payment or equivalent that save the credit cart number and info on the website (ebay, amazon, aliexpress, etc).

my google fu is strong!
I will tell you my secret
I search thread for keyword runtime and viola, there you are

It was not a complete runtime test but one that started with an almost empty battery to check the ‘vampire draw quality’ of the light.
An actual runtime test starting with full battery was never done but a very likely runtime number can be predicted when you know that the current is supposed to be set at 25mA. You get more than 40 hours out of an alkaline battery then. Maybe someone can do a review with an actual runtime test. Or maybe I will do it one of these days Smile

Can you share a link with a magnet and a tritium that fits?

Many people buy trits at Mixglo.com, you need the smallest type 6mmx1.5mm.
I have ordered some 5mm diameter x 3mm thickness neodymium magnets at Fasttech many weeks ago but I must say they are slow to arrive. Another test that is not actually done (will the C01 succesfully stick to a vertical metal surface with such magnet)

Thanks. Feel better my first order from aliexpress.

Behold, I just looked through my old stash of neodymium magnets and came across some 5mmx3mm ones after all (probably bought from Fasttech a few years back). So with a piece of wood and some care I managed to hammer one into one of the sample lights without breaking the magnet (in the production lights the hole is slightly larger so you need glue), and I can report that the C01 sticks quite happily to a vertical metal surface. Nothing extremely firm but the magnet does the job fine Thumbs Up
(The split ring becomes very happy too, responding to the magnet Smile )

I nominate gurdygurds to do the runtime test Wink

how does it do with NiMH cells?

Because of the way this driver sucks voltage down, you would need to closely monitor it while using NiMH cells so that you don’t permanently damage the cells.

Do you think recharging when the light goes dim would eliminate that concern?

note these lights start at about 5 lumens,
and the vampire mode is well below 1 lumen,
so it should be obvious when the light needs a fresh battery, no?

Go to “My Orders” You will see the order there with status as “Awaiting Payment.” Refresh every so often until Sofirn changes the amount from 7.02 to 6.50, then click “Pay Now” to complete your order. You will be charged 0.80 to use PayPal on Ali though, which is normal.

Just discovered this wonderful addiction.

Thanks dijozz for confirming that a 5 x 3 mm magnet holds the light well enough Thumbs Up .

Now the wait for the red and  blue batches begin, hopefully they will be ready at the same time, so you don't have to order multiple times if you want both.

I almost want buy one of these to see what it’s all about. Is it the CRI that makes this light so popular? Seems durable according to the video. Just seems as though the output is fairly low which is what is keeping me from pulling the trigger. I have a Nitecore Tip and got my wife the Astrolux K1.

Eh? I thought that it was safe to drain a single cell, but not to drain a pack of NiMH cells so not to reverse a weak cell. No?

You have to wait for Sofirn to respond.

Is it only like .43 more to pay full price …seems like a lot of effort for half a buck. Am I missing a 2 for 1 or some other special?

I also got an email with the subject “My name, your Order price have been adjusted.” So you could wait for that instead of refreshing.

Packs in series are definitely the worst case, because they can cause reversal of the weakest cell if you discharge too far.

Energizer, in their technical manual for NiMH cells recommends 0.9V.

I’m fairly certain going below that won’t kill them very quickly, but I’m sure it lessons their cycle life. I wouldn’t be afraid to use NiMH in mine, but I probably would go ahead and charge once I start to notice any dimming.

The regular price is also quite good. We didn’t know before hand what that regular price would be.

The savings add up more for people buying multiples, of course.

The CRI and the even, floody beam are the main differences between this new light and the Fenix E01, a light long appreciated for it’s durability, efficiency, and ability to get as much energy as possible from its battery.

In many situations, high outputs are not needed. Those are the times when the C01 will be at its best, but it won’t substitute for the Tip or the K1 for the times when you need a lot of light.

Not much lights can fire up with almost dead batteries. This one can.

Aye, there’s the rub. Check the voltage on NiMH when you notice a drop in brightness and let us know how low it can go.

I’ve grown wary of ever using alkalines because I realized they can keep a LED flashlight adequately bright while they’ve already leaked badly —- I used to rely on the dimming of incandescents to clue me in to change alkaline batteries before they could leak.

So now I only use the Energizer lithium primaries or NiMH cells.

To those for whom it seems like too much BS, consider buying the light at the normal price. Still seems like quite a bargain. Or don’t.

At the time of writing the price is US $6.93 – even without the BLF discount that seems like a good deal to me. Fr me the biggest reason to apply for the discount is to let Sofirn know that BLF members are following through and ordering.

what is the BLF list for ?. is it for this aliexpress deal?. these lights not potted? or is that plan not happening?. im a little lost just a little.

It has been an interest list to assure Sofirn there is demand for this light, and possibly to assist with the group buy. I don’t know if they are checking for usernames on the list before adjusting the price or not, but I do have you on the list.

The last update I saw on the potting seemed to indicate Sofirn still intended to include it, and the gooey potting in djozz’s test sample might just be slow curing.

I’m a little confused as well.

So there will not be a GB delivery or discount code and we’re to use this order-get discount-and pay method with Sofirn direct instead, correct?

Do Interested parties need to confirm on this thread/master list if ‘ we’ve ordered on AE?

FWIW, I was “1; 1 – pc_light (967)” and have ordered such directly just now, so I can now be cleared from “the list”.

Thanks for all the coordination efforts which couldn’t have been easy.

Seeking the light.

There will be plenty more of the 3200K:

Yes, 2000 lights with Yuji leds, half 3200K half 5600K, 1200 black, 500 red, 300 blue. That is the plan. Already 300x black is made, the rest will be later.
