Ah yes, I have seen those, thanks! I didn’t pick one up the first time round but will probably get a couple in various colours.

Odd question but would it be possible / how easy would it be to mod the output lower? I haven’t been following this fully so apologies if it’s been asked before.

On another note, I can confirm from own experience that the warm C01 is perfect for children reading in bed, works very well and they are super-happy with it. Smile

Agreed. I’ve done this, too. It’s easy to illuminate the entire page with the floody beam, the warmth is easy on the eyes, but it’s still neutral enough that blue colors in illustrated books are not compromised, and the overall color rendering is great.

I also regularly use my C01 to check on my kids at night when I don’t have dark adapted eyes. If my eyes are dark adapted, I use a light with moonlight mode, but otherwise the C01 is perfect.

Since I’ve bought multiples in the original C01 run, I won’t need more of the complete version, but I’m on the interest list for a C01 host, and still interested in that possibility.

I’d probably buy some more, especially with new colors like green and desert tan. These are great lights for handing to my kids and the colors with help them know who’s is who’s.

Definitely interested in 3400k. At least one, probably more.

I would be interested in grabbing a bunch of these in all the colors with the 3400k led if they ever start making them again. They would make great gifts and loaners, and I want one in all the cars and rooms of the house. I missed out on the original batch. Sad Just ordered a pair of C01R’s and two C01S’s – one orange and one tan. I love AAA lights. They’re so much more likely to be in a pocket when I need one than bigger lights.

rngwn’s LEDs are nice and the second best option for the new C01. But it’s missing the caramel tint of most Yuji LEDs. But tint is varying a little for both types. The best of the rngwn LEDs is extremely close to an average Yuji.

I’m waiting for hosts, but it seems this project has currently no priority. Hope it doesn’t silently die like the BLF SP70.

Top: 2 C01
Bottom: SWM with rngwn’s LED

If Sofirn does produce a host version, then it should be a relatively easy soldering job to install one of rngwn’s 2300K LED’s.

Even better would be if Sofirn decides to produce both 2300K and 3400K versions stock. It’s hard to say currently if there is enough interest for this to happen.

there will be 3400K option only, because it’s easier to make all 5000pcs in one time and save cost.

Body colors will be black, blue, red, green, desert tan, orange.

Nice! Any idea when they will be ready? And will there be a “host” version too, without led and maybe with driver not pressed into place?

Since nrgwn came up with several candidates, I presume interest in hosts will exceed the number of users that expressed their interest in djozz’ thread.

Thanks for the update Barry! Color options sound great.

I think the 3400K is the right option for the largest number of people who don’t have a C01.

Since I bought several 3200K versions in the original batch, I think 2300K would be a nice option. However, if you at least offer a host version, I can modify several myself.

If the host version does not happen, this new batch is supposed to have no potting so modding it should be easy.

I would love an AA version of this with a simple firefly and regular mode UI. Would last for a long time on high.

Or an AA light with three of these clustered closely together. Each twist on then off brings up another LED. A total of 21 lumens pulling 60ma on a 2000mah AA, that 35 hours of runtime on high…

I’m really late to the party, but I’d love a half dozen of the 3400k!

Is this going to be the YUJI 3400K? with potting like the C01 2019 version?

No, it is from another manufacturer, but the leds are really nice too. See rngwn’s thread: http://budgetlightforum.com/node/69056

No potting. Potting cost too much time to do. I believe it will tough even without potting.

Also, I think offer one tint choice will be better than two tints choices. One tint is easier for fast assembling and keep cost low.

Fingers crossed, looking for a regulated 5mm light with modes! With or without LEDs (will swap out)

Any other non headlamp options, that aren’t nitecore tube or klarus?

Rephrase:

Does anyone know of a AAA (or aa) light for 5mm (yuji or rngwn compatible) regulated with modes? I don’t know what I’m talking about always (ok, often) but I’m going to say also not just dimmed with resistors… want longer runtime

I own a couple of those lights (Gerber, Manker, Sofirn, SWM).
The output is just about enough to get a key into a keyhole without scratching the door.
Don’t know 5mm lights with multiple modes but Sunwayman says the 10 lumen R01A has (quote):
21-hour working time (11-hour sun mode plus 10-hour moon mode).

You are a flashaholic if you are forced to come out of the closet, to make room for more flashlights.
