ThruNite Catapult V6 Mini Thrower

Hello all. I just received this light today. I wanted a small powerful thrower and I think I’ve found it. I turned the light on today but right now I’m charging it up so I can get the full effect.

I’ll be comparing it to the Acebeam L16 tomorrow and I’ll give my impressions then.

Hi. The V6 is my favorite light at the moment.

Cat V6 is a great little light.
Blows away the L16 in throw ……….
I compared the L16 in my review (video portion) HERE although not at any real distance in the video , but you can see some difference even closer up.
Once you get out to 150 plus yards , the V6 really starts out shining the L16 in throw.

So here are my thoughts… I just came back from testing.

The V6 is a stronger light however for real world purposes eg… what the human eye can actually handle not by to much. It is stronger yes but I was not blown away by it.
What the V6 does have is better battery life eg… due to it using a much larger capacity battery. Both lights get very hot. The V6 does stay a little cooler the L16 will burn your hands.

I compared beamshots what the L16 does have is that is does flood more which some people may like. I like both lights they each serve a different purpose.

For the price and what your getting with the V6 its hard to beat.

The only thing if you want to be nit picky is the design of the V6 is very basic but again that’s just being overly critical.

I also brought the BLF GT with me of course not a fair comparison that light is a monster and outshines anything in the market right now.

One of you is going to have to show me how to post picts here… I wouldn’t mind showing you guys all the tests so you can see what I mean.

I had fun I ran into some skunks and wild rabbits haven’t seen those in a while…

Oh one thing one of you might help me understand is this.

When I used the BLF GT and put the light on the rabbit I couldn’t see the glow in its eyes; however when I used the L16 and V6 I could see it…

Didn’t get that mind you the BLF light up the rabbit like it was daylight…

First here are a couple of good write ups how to post images here………

I also would like to have seen a little more done with the head and bezel of the V6 in the design to make it more pleasing to the eye.

I totally agree with the lights having different beams and being used for different purposes. I even mentioned in my review video that you would see more difference in the beams further out.

As far as throw though at 400 yards the Cat V6 is showing me a lot more than the L16 does.
Again there is a lot of difference there with the beams as the L16 is much wider from the smaller reflector where the V6 beam has more of a hotspot.

I also understand if you are comparing a CW with a NW there will be more difference … also my eyes may not see light the same as your eyes or the next guy so one light may appear brighter to me than someone else , but here are a few beamshots I just took tonight with my lights , so the L16 and V6 were on level field……….
There was a good bit of mist in the air tonight , so not optimal conditions for beamshots really , but here is what I got anyway.

Also both the L16 and the V6 I have are the Cool White.

L16—175 yards Turbo

V6 — 175 yards Turbo

Approximately 90 yards /// L16 left — V6 right

90 yards with V6 left and L16 right

Those are pretty much my findings… short range… for where the eye sees not a huge difference… there is some… I like both lights… if I was in the deep woods; I’d be bringing the X9R for flood 200 yards effective and the BLF GT for the thrower for general crowd lights; I would bring the V6 for general purpose for its portability ease of use and long battery life…. I would bring the L16 for around the camp use… or heck maybe even the EC65 which I use every day…

Would like to see both V6 and the L16 compared to the new ODL20C thrower from Lumintop.

hmm not familiar with that one…

Yep. Problem is not all people will have both. 1 or the other.

I have the l16 and v6 not the olight not jumping up and down for olight smaller offerings

Been looking today and considering buying the Cat V6 but thought I’d better take a look at BLF to see what’s being said about this light and nothing makes me happier to see that the light I want to buy is getting good reviews by Robo, that tells me I’m on track.
Thanks for the info Robo, hope all is well with you and family.
Off to buy the V6, thanks again…!

Happy 4th to all as well…

it’s a small thrower but sure not MINI, I think the size like U21
