gChart's 1000 post 3x giveaway - CLOSED - Winners Announced

I recently passed 1000 posts, so what is one to do besides clear off the shelf a little bit?

How to Enter: three flashlights will be given away, and there will be three ways to enter. BLF is a great community, and I want to encourage that atmosphere with this giveaway. You can win in one of the following ways:

  • Include a link to a post where you’re contributing to this forum in some useful manner (providing insight, responding to a request for help, etc)
  • Entertain us: make a good joke, write us a story, spin us a poem, etc
  • Random selection

Your post may contain both a “useful” post link as well as something entertaining. I’ll select the first two winners based on the contents of your post. For the third, I’ll use random.org to select someone. This giveaway ends in one week - I will select the winners on Tuesday, July 24th

Requirements: you must be a BLF member before today (2018-07-17). International folks feel free to participate, but I may ask that you assist in offsetting international shipping charges.

The Goods: the following lights are up for grabs. The “useful” winner will get first pick, followed by the “entertainment” winner. The random winner will get the remaining flashlight.

ThorFire TK15S: see my review here. This is currently in it’s stock form, but I will do a couple mods if desired: (1) an illuminated tailcap with your choice of colors and brightness, and (2) and LED swap to anything I have on-hand (it currently has an XP-L2, I have some XP-L, XP-L HI, LH351D, 219B, 219C, 319A, etc). The TK15S is the top one in this pic (the one with a tailswitch, of course)

Brinyte B21 Complex: see my review here. This unique light has white, red, green, and UV LEDs in it’s bear-paw shaped head.

Wuben I331: see my review here. This dual-switch 14500 light has very distinctive styling. I’ll include the battery that came with the flashlight.

Good luck everyone!

Well done on 1000 posts and doing a give away :+1:

Thanks for the giveaway, gchart!

My most useful post on BLF is probably the Original Post of this thread:

https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/47268

I created the thread because the latest Drupal version of BLF badly needed instructions on how to post images.

I believe that post is most comprehensive guide on the topic on BLF.

For entertainment, here's a limerick I just made up:

There once was a man from Nantucket

that always used Photobucket.

They held his pics for ransom

(even though he was handsome)

He couldn't pay; it wasn't in his budget.

Thanks for the great giveaway, nice to see so many members reaching these huge milestones lately! Maybe someone could be helpful and show me where you see how many posts you have…

I try to be useful whenever I can on this forum. I’ve offered up my limited materials science knowledge in the past, as well as some design review and light recommendations . I hope I can continue to be useful around here in the future.

Congratulations on your 1k posts. NOT in for the GAW (fine lights though).

Well, I try to be helpful in almost every post I make, but I’m not sure how helpful I actually am at times. Here’s a post where I’m trying to explain how PWM makes drivers less efficient.

For an attempt at entertainment, below is a song I wrote for my wedding day. My wife didn’t hear it for the first time until I sung it to her at our wedding. The 12th of this month was our 21st anniversary. Enjoy!

V1
I never dreamed that I’d be here, at this time and place
Where all my dreams throughout the years are right before my face!
I never thought I’d make it, now it seems I have
And what more could I ask for?

Chorus
So I promise I will love you, whether rain or shine.
And I promise what we have here will be yours and mine.
You can count on me to be here through the test of time.
And I will love you. And I love only you.
I promise I love you for all time!

V2
Now here we stand once again to remember when
We pledged our love before our God and before all men
And once more we make the promise that our hearts first made
’Cause our love’s still the same

And in case neither of those is enough to win me a prize, may I find favor in the random drawing with this bit of randomness:

Pickle farts on Mars!

I’m sucker for give aways! Sign me up and here’s the link where I try to contribute.

Thanks :+1:

Nice poetry above :+1:

Thanks gchart for your ongoing contribution to BLF

My forum contribution: djozz tests

My go at a limerick in a non-native language  :

A troll on BLF was utterly bored
He almost left because his spam was ignored
Then he won a giveaway
And that made him stay
Dozens of flashlights are now his hoard

But I’m not in because I have too many lights already.

Thank you for the generous giveaway, your ongoing support of BLF and other members. Always enjoyed your posts and knowledge.

Please count me in, for the useful post above and not for my non-existing poetry skills (can’t sing, rhyme, or walk a straight line :D)

gchart, congrats for your 1000 posts
I will NOT be in for your GAW, mostly because I’ve been indirectly GAWed by you on X3 GAW  So thanks and congrats for you posts!
If I had to post a thread that might be helpful, in which I made something, I would say this one: Essays with TIR lenses on Convoy S2+: XML2 + XPL-HI [Update]

Two cannibals are eating a clown.
One says to the other: “Does this taste funny to you? :stuck_out_tongue:

Well done on the 1000 posts, and may you post many more!

Nice giveaway gChart :+1:

I really need some more flashlights  , I got 4, but only 2 (Q8 and Convoy S9) work right now, the other two (Convoy X3 and S3) are waiting for drivers and emitters.
I don’t know what exactly counts as “contributing to this forum in some useful manner”, but here are some links:
LED drivers and Accessories you want, but don’t exist (lots of posts in there)
D.I.Y. Illuminated Tailcap - gChart Editions - #33 by Schoki
GFS16 - Battery Indicator Tailcap Light & 1mR FET Tailswitch! (Rev B) - #57 by Schoki

Thanks for the giveaway.

I’m fairly new here, but I have made a minor contribution here:

Haven’t quite developed much flashlight humor, but I’m in for the random draw, at least.

” Hear about the new restaurant called Karma?

There’s no menu: You get what you deserve.”

Congrats on 1000 posts, may time will be kind on you.

Thanks for the GAW gchart, I’m in.

FWIW, did my first review of an AA light on BLF recently, hopefully it was helpful to someone.

Count me in…

Congratulations!
I believe my most useful post it here
That’s certainly not one that made the largest impact on BLF (not that I have many impactful ones…). Well, it made none. But I believe that the stuff I put there is the finest work that I’ve done on this forum.

I think my most useful thread was one where I was asking for feedback on a spring bypass and by the end of the thread I think I became 10x more knowledgeable on the subject thanks to everyone else’s contributions.

Thanks for GAW, Well I can’t hold a candle to you guys and your wealth of flashlight knowledge but I did post this awhile ago:

Stevie Ray Vaughan Voodoo Child

Keep those entries coming! Don’t forget, any kind of post (even just an “I’m in!”) will get you into the random drawing.
