Klarus XT11X

New Klarus on the way

I reckon they should have gone with 21700’s

If the discounts are right I am a little excited about this light. It does not far exceed the competition as it claims though. there are signle XHP70.2 lights making over 3500 lumens.
I wish Klarus had gone with the 21700 battery though….

I’ve got to agree with you’ll on this one 18650’s are a little small for 3500 lumens. 21700’s are the future. Still companies cling to the 25.4mm body tube for light mounts, 30mm mounts are also available. For 4.6mm’s you get a better battery for 3500 lumens, a much longer run time and a little more meat in the tube. With some companies producing several similar lights it would be nice for and after market upgrade in 21700 size for those 99% that never mount a light on a firearm. I’ve got a few Klarus lights and I would love to upgrade/improve them into the 21700 format.

Not so impressive. I don’t like mode spacing and klarus’s very aggressive temperature control.
I think Klatus is better at small edc light than tactical light.

Klarus makes nice torches, I had XT11GT and XT12GT, the only thing I didn’t like is UI: no memory. You can switch it on in turbo or min mode only.

I agree, Klarus makes nice torches.
Their UI, strangely, works for me and I wouldn’t imagine that before I tried it. It’s easy, small button = momentary on, starts on low and with every tap it switches to a higher level. Though, I would sacrifice “momentary on at low level” for “tap on and immediately accept fast taps to next level”, I think it would be very intuitive.
Big button is turbo and works great, momentary on, one button, one job, the one you will most probably want if you need light fast.
I think I have a misfunction on my XT2CR, which I am not sure yet if it’s my fingers fault mistakenly clicking the secondary switch along with the main switch or a driver fault. When I press the main button for momentary on, after a certain point, it switches to low and stays there even if I click the button on. I would like to know if that happens to others too.

I don’t know… main competitors for me are TH20, TM03 and L30.

  • It does not look very innovative or more interesting than an L30, TH20 or TM03.
  • Mod spacing is pretty odd. 400 as high after 3200 turbo.
  • I am not sure if an 18650 is a good choice for that light either. At least it’s not a proprietary cell like the TM03 I guess(?). But 21700 would be the way to go for me, no doubt about it.
  • Klarus isn’t exactly known for delivering the output they claim either. Guess we have to wait for someone to buy and measure everything. But I kinda doubt that they can deliver. Maybe it will be more like 2800 Lumen(?) Also how high will the output be after the initial drop? The reviews I’ve read suggest that the L30 provides ~2000 Lumens constant, TH20 ~1050 and TM03 ~1150. The runtime Klarus provides for turbo mode (45 minutes) also makes me think that this light will drop fast and hard in output.

However they do tick some boxes I like to see:

  • USB-charging. Neither TM03 nor TH20 can do that. TL30 has that. I am still amazed why only so few companies also let it be discharged (aka power bank feature) via that very same port. It just blows my mind.
  • Secondary tail switch. TL30 doesn’t have that.
  • Size is very well within the competition range. 15.08cm length is about 1.1cm shorter than the L30, 1cm shorter than the TH20 and still 0.8cm shorter than the TH03. Head is only 0.1cm wider than the TH20 and TM03 and 0.7cm slimmer than an L30.

I think the initial and constant output this light can provide will be the key for me here. If it hit’s the 3000 Lumens mark and can provide 1500+ Lumens constantly I will probably buy it. However, I highly doubt that.
