[06-Dec-2011] Long outage resolved

Hi everyone,

My apologies for the long outage for almost 12 hours. Unfortunately I didn't check the site after I returned home last night, I went to bed, and I found it inoperable this morning, thus the long duration. The problem was that the index.php file permissions somehow got set to 0000 (no permissions for anybody to access it whatsover). The big question now is how that happened. I haven't touched those permissions for a long time. I need to investigate this, and I'll let you know ASAP.

Sorry again,

Have fun.

Update: I confirmed that it was not a hacker or a site malfunction. The hosting company made an uncharacteristically bad decision of crippling the site to reduce system resource usage. I am currently taking up that issue with the hosting company.

Welcome back ....

I started thinking why there so few new posts and threads
Great it’s back on track!!!

Thanks for solving the issue!

I found myself continuously refreshing the page to get rid of that 403-message.. Addicted to this site? Me? No way.. ;)

It blocked me right after I replied to a poll and said I wanted in on the new Dry group buy. I was like WTH? LOL

Wow I never heard of permissions changing before! Good to see things are back.

Thanks for fixing it. I was pretty freaked out when I woke up this morning and it was down. I thought my chicky did something nasty so I would spend more time with her and less time staring at the computer, paranoid not if they really are out to get you.

had a panic attack for a moment.went to the "other site" to check if anyone posted updates there on what happened here.

good thing all's well right now.:)

Thank you for fixing it! I was starting to get the DT's

Went googling throughout the day to find out what happened but to no avail. I feel so at home now. Shows how much I liked it here

Me too. :)

I'm glad we're back. Thanks for fixing it. Still, seems kind of drastic to go all Dr. Strangelove and chmod the whole site to 0 because of some load issues. Jeez, that's what email is for.

Exactly. That's the issue that I am currently taking up with our host.

I thought you didn't wuv us any mo'...(sniff).

And unfortunately the "404 Forbidden" error made it appear as though the user's account was banned or something.

It may be a coincidence but it occurred almost immediately after I had deleted a large number of threads from my Watched list. I can't see how that would have caused it but there may be a link.

EDIT - Posted this before I read post 11. Please ignore.

It seemed that way but rather it was a 403 instead that I got.
