Are these VTC5D genuine or not?

"VTC 5D" date code "XE23T" (using battery bro date code tool = May 2015 ?! )

weight ~ 44.3 grams

Internal Resistance reading from Miboxer C4-12:

The VTC 5A has a lower IR than these VTC 5D (22 mOhms vs 25 & 28mOhms)

First off, where did you get them?

From a local vape shop where I also tried their VTC5, VTC5A and VTC6…

I’m pretty sure their VTC5 and VTC6 are genuine, based on capacity tests and which also has low resistances.

I couldn’t differentiate with anything definitive whether their VTC5A and the VTC5 are the different or the same though (whether their VTC5A is just a rewrap of the VTC5 because they seem to perform almost exactly the same — similar capacity and similar resistance when tested on the MC3000 or other charger with resistance check function, and also seem to perform similarly when used inside flashlights).

Just recently, I noticed they got these VTC5D so I bought a pair to test. The initial above impression is that these VTC5D are slightly higher resistance though (I show the above resistance check picture, but I also tested in another charger, and the VTC5D is very slightly higher IR than the VTC5A; but then again, the analyzing chargers resistance tests may not be that precise…)

Hi, in the photo where you show the negative poles of your so-called VTC5D, there is no circular engraving dedicated to degassing / venting present on the latest models designed by Sony / Murata (VTC5D, VTC6A and VC7) so therefore these are fake rewrapped with counterfeit wraps, sorry for you. In addition, the internal resistance calculated in DCIR is around 17-18 milliOhms for Sony VTC5D, which reconfirms that they are fake.

Thanks for pointing out that circular engraving feature of the newer Sony cells (VTC5D, VTC6A, VC7). I looked at a picture of the Vapcell wrapped VTC5D (AliExpress site) which has the circular engraving on the negative side.

Actually, the shop sells the “VTC5D” for almost the same price as their “VTC5”, so if these fake VTC5D perform at least as well as genuine VTC5, I would consider it “OK”, so it’s a misleading rewrap of maybe the VTC5. I’m still doing a capacity test of these fake “VTC5D” right now, will report back when done…

I have sony vtc5d vapcell which i bought them for $10 each… its not all that… vtc5d is just perform like vtc6 in the flashlights.
