Sofirn SC31 - another Sofirn's flashlight USB rechargeable. New trend?

I have no affiliation with Sofirn (other than being a fairly happy customer).

I just spotted Sofirn New SC31 USB rechargeable LED Flashlight 18650 on Sofirn’s Aliexpress Store

Does it mean that Sofirn will introduce now new versions of their flashlights but with USB charging options?
I would  to see USB rechargeable version of 26650’s SP33 with Cree XP-L HI they used in C8T.

Does anyone know if Sofirn is planning to use XP-L HI V3 3C 4750-5000K Noctigon anywhere?

Another day, another XP-G3 light with a smooth reflector I won’t be buying.

The description said ” Orange peel reflector ” but the picture look like smooth one. :person_facepalming:

Same here. Will pass on this one as well.
There is nor Moonlight mode mentioned either Turbo, so it looks like a flashlight for average Joe/Jane.
The price is right as well (USB rechargeable).
I think Sofirn is just testing the market. What else?

I posted this purely out of curiosity.

I love to see more usb recharge versions. But Why no moonlight mode??? No moonlight no buy.

I’ve never had any use for Moonlight or Turbo. Not having to cycle through modes that i never use is just great. The brightness level settings seems good as well. I wish the higher quality brands like Fenix would produce a light like this.

If you want turbo and moonlight, just go get literally any other USB rechargeable 1x18650 light out there.

the indicator led works almost like moonlight.

When the light is off, press and hold for breathing indicator.

check this video for SC31

Unno, 10lm seems a decent low-low, if not moonlight. Any lower, and I’d call it firefly instead.

What would bug me more is the rather big jump from 10 to 200.

10/60/400 (or thereabouts) would be more evenly-spaced.

Still, I still use and like my SP10-whatever, which has F/L/M in the main cycle and 2click for H. That’s got a rather huge jump from F to L, but I still like it. It’s just a matter of getting used to it.

I got one of these a few days ago & I’m really liking it. It may not have a “fancy complicated state of the art UI”, but in the big scheme of things…… who gives a flying crap. IT is a neat little light that is certainly well priced.

Nope… no true ‘moonlight’ for the ’moonlight groupies’. OH well, probably the majority of users (myself included) could care less about a true moonlight mode. It’s just a wasted click.

Nope…. no Turbo to quickly eat up the battery either.

Just a well designed, solid light with a simple UI. This should be a great seller Sofirn to people who are looking for a very reasonably priced simple light.

And the ’blue breathing switch locator lights’ are really a nice touch also. :+1:

Personally, I am not a great fan of USB charging. I can take it or ‘preferably’ leave it. BUT, since the SC31 does have it…. I’ll take it. .

It works nicely AND, the USB cover is excellent. It is a plug that very adequately seals the USB Charging Port. That is impressive.

All in all, well done on the SC31 Sofirn!!! . . :+1:

Oh yeah, nice beam & OP reflector.

Moon light in the regular rotation is annoying to me. Turn it on in daylight and you don’t even know it is on . Same when putting it away. For a work light , I want one press to a decent lumen level. On board charging is a take it or leave it for me. Chargers have their own set of issues. Clutter up my table. As long as it doesn’t enlarge the light , I guess it is ok. Everyone has their uses. The sc31 with it’s 610 lumen high mode is a little low but for heat management and long run time , would make it a great gifter light.

I bought two anyways because I like the small form factor, usb charging, good price, and ease of modding of Sofirn lights in general.

The color temperature seems 5500k, cool white, but fortunately not bluish like other cheap lights.

I measured using the calibrated Texas_Ace Lumen Sphere to 446 lumens and 469 lumens slightly after turn-on using fully charged Sony VTC6 batteries. The included Sofirn batteries measure less lumens. This is lower than the 600 lumen spec. Sofirn has been conservative with their lumen specs on some of their lights like the 18650 C8F but over rated some of their other lights like this one and the 21700 C8F. But Sofirn in general is more honest than 95% of the bargain flashlight brands out there that inflate their lumen ratings to couple hundred percent of actual.

The user interface is decent but not as good as the one on the Sofirn SP30A. The Sofirn SP31 and SP32A also have better UI than this but they lack USB recharge. I only bought this for modding because Sofirn lights are easy to mod and I basically modded over a dozen Sofirn lights. There seems to be a weak glue in the thread but it’s not difficult to turn with the right tool.

SOFIRN PLEASE DESIGN YOUR LIGHTS FOR EASY MODDING. DON’T GLUE ANYTHING IN YOUR LIGHTS OR YOU WILL LOSE CUSTOMERS!

Mode spacing seems great. USB is great. Not sure why people have a problem with USB charging. Its not a requirement to use it. Any reason XP-G3 was used instead of an XP-L?

I don’t love USB recharging, but for my daughters who don’t have a charger, it’s nice to have a battery level indicator on the switch, and internal charger.

And, as a Convoy fanboy, it pains me to say this, but the UI puts this light so far ahead of the Convoy S9, that it’s not even close. The S9 is very similar in size and features, but my kids hate the Convoy. I’m gonna have to buy some more SC31s because there’s already fighting over the one I just got today.

Had this for 1 month.
Nice, no frills dependable USB charging flashlight.

The Briggs and Stratton 3.5 HP mower of the flashlight world.
No blinks and just right.
They raised the price too much now though.

hmm
Maybe i’ll check this one out… But the S9… that tapped hole means a lot for my application hmmmmmmmm

Great little rechargeable to give as a Christmas gift. Plenty of utilitarian modes built in for practical use and entertainment value. Great starter flashlight right out of the box.
