Tiny monster video light

So a friend went on caving expedition and asked if I could put something together that would serve as video light. It had to be done in a week and here’s what I did to Nitecore TM11 and TM06s:

  • 1 - Tools and ingredients

  • 2 - I used bezel to draw where bulb needs to be cut

  • 3 - a coarse cut with a knife

  • 4 - a more precise cut with scissors

  • 5 - diffusers installed on TM06s and TM11. I used a smaller bulb for TM06s.

  • 6 - TM06s on low

The light gets evenly spilled without any color declinations (pink center, green halo). Hope they serve well as video lights.

The bigger bulbs were sold in pack of two and the smaller bulbs in pack of three. Each pack was 5€ in Hofer. The bulbs are 90+CRI or so it says on packaging.

That’s a clever use of materials to make a diffuser. Thanks for posting. You’ve given me ideas.

Thats a very creative idea Matjazz. Nice work. :+1:

Nice work! Thank you for sharing. :+1:

Please report back with cave videos and photos!

What a good way to diffuse the light

especially when they are broken anyway.. or extremely cheap!!

The sacrificial led bulbs are still working. Even better they are shining brighter than ever before

Looks great!

Any before and after beam shots?

For the lightbulb too, if you have one to compare to.

Thanks in advance.

Yesterday we were looking at unedited videos from expedition and I uploaded a clip where you can see how modified light perform:

I’ve been asked to get more lights like this and. I’ll probably get a couple of Nitecore TM06s’s but I’m wondering if you could suggest some alternative soda can lights?

Have you seen the BLF Q8?
And the new Q8 is out now (Sofirn Q8 group buy (gb closed, but try PM to Sofirn for discount)). And there should be a version out soon that has a longer battery tube. So longer runtime.
