Newbie

Hi,

just joined after reading some threads regarding 18650 batteries, headlights and flashlights.

Already have some flashlights (nothing fancy) - unmodded (don’t even know how to mod yet), already did some battery pulls from old laptops and have some (chinese) power banks for 18650 batteries.

Now as i like trail run i ordered Boruit D10 for evening training and an Opus BT-C3100 to better understand my old batteries’s health.

Cheers!

I hope you feel welcome here and if there is something I can help you with, let me know! (por PM pode ser em Português :stuck_out_tongue: )

BTW, I also have a similar headlamp under a different name and so far so good, it is praised as one of the “good” budget lights around here: Boruit Headlamp Review D10 (aka. EHL0628) - King of the Budget Headlamps?

Have fun!

I believe your next purchase should land on a good pair of 18650 cells.

Try to keep yourself from constantly buying new flashlights and gear cause you will end up just like most of us!

Yeah,

that is my next doubt. I ordered some D10 headlamps for me and friends and need to buy batteries (4 to 6).

I’m looking in Aliexpress (Liitokala) or Gearbest, but still don’t know what’s best for this light. Don’t even know how much (hours) they will last. Probably the best should be something with high capacity (>3200), as the prices are not really that different.

Any recomendations? Meanwhile i’ll try to read more about the subject.

Regards

I would look into Sanyo/Panasonic NCR18650GA cells - plenty of capacity, yet enough current to satisfy the needs of these D10 headlamps. Samsung 35E is another good one.

While i’m here, just to share 2 flashlights i have and find them very good (for the money i spent):

Convoy C8 Cree XPL H1 (bought 2 years ago for ~$17)

Skyray Cree XML-T6 7 led (bought 2.5 years ago for ~$20)

I do have 4 NCR18650B also from 2.5 years ago (besides a dozen old pulled batteries).

Regards!

These will work as well since this headlamp doesn’t pull more than 2 Amps max.

Like these?

Yes, but these are mine

Looking to buy for my friends. But yes, this model is also a good choice, right?

No. Liitokala is OK, but they’re rewraps, so who knows what they’re currently wrapping in there.
I was suggesting sticking with name brands like Sanyo/Panasonic, Samsung, LG, or Sony.

You should also figure out if the headlamp you bought requires flat tops, button tops, or if both are OK.

This headlamp in particular takes both button or flat tops, protected or unprotected

Model Number:EHL0628

Glad they chose to shorten the name of it .. yeah that's a great budget headlamp . I've yet to mod mine but it's worthy of a decent tint / higher cri emitter like the new high cri samsungs. No PWM and 11$ its a great choice imho .

D-10 ..like the nitecore ..i like it

The opus might show you how bad your current batteries are which isn't nessesarily a bad thing because if you were happy with questionable cells capacity then you'll be pleased as punch with new higher capacity cells .Batteries are crazy cheap at this point and getting better and better .

Welcome to BLF JamesRock! Looking forward to your participation!

I'm not sure what browser you use, but Chrome supports the BLF Chrome extension which can be helpful at times in finding products. For example, I did a quick search and found two vendors in China that carry 18650GA cells: (1) BangGood, and (2) the VbattyBattery store at Ali Express.

Hi and welcome to BLFJamesRock.

It's nice of you to join us, JamesRock!

Thank you all for your help, i already have a lot to read based on your inputs.

I ordered an Opus BT-C3100 to test my batteries and also to charge them quicker (currently have Nitecore D2).
