Confirmed gadgetaholic here, flashlights included of course. First order of business was buying New-Lumens from Old-Lumens ( https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/5232) . Here is the FatBoy beam on my shop. I put the camera in "night scenery" mode but it still does not look like what you can see with your eyes
.
OK on this one I tried to capture the width of the beam. It is cold out so I breathed onto the front and tried to snap it. It is fuzzy but you can see the middle shoot out and then a super wide spill. It is very wide and you can see things hiding on the sides like moose or whatever.
It is not a joke. Last year I was walking with what I thought was the latest and greatest. It is a SAiK with a P7 I think. Anyway, I sense something close and I turn to the left and all I see is brown, the brown hide of a moose! Spitting distance and luckily it was in a tranquil mood. I have had other encounters with belligerent ones that would stomp you in a second. So side spill is good for my walks.
Nope, I wasn’t kidding either. It was in Canada and the moose wasn’t in much of a pleasant mood. I’ve had a black bear look me over too and that was fairly scary. All of it was in the daylight, so a flashlight wouldn’t do me much good though.
