Received my 3rd Novatac SPA 120T

The newly arrived 2010 Novatac SPA with anodized bezel, on the right in all following photos

The Knurling is very nice, it has little dimples in the pattern, and feels aggressive but not overly abrasive.

It arrived with Factory Default Presets, Programming Disabled
Preset A Strobe
Preset B Maximum, 71.8 lumens
Preset C 9.2 lumens
Preset D 9.2 Lumens

Force Preset B ON
Simple Momentary ON (strobe)

Did the 250 click, got it right on first try, and reprogrammed:
Preset A Maximum 73 Lumens
Preset B 10.3 lumens
Preset C 32.9 lumens
Preset D 0.12 Lumens

Force Preset B ON
Simple Momentary OFF

——

It arrived with LiIon battery detection enabled. When I inserted a used Primary CR123 at 2.9v, the light stepped down to the lowest mode and started blinking. This is correct for LiIon Low Battery indication.

High Beams:

Reflector rings on the latest anodized bezel unit.

Lowest mode photo scan lines. No visible flicker on the lowest mode on a full 16340.

This is a very nice light!

Manual dated 2010

Lumens on my homebrew meter

Lens similarities, both lights have green Anti Reflective coating. The reflector on the right has rings in the design, these do not show in use.

Both reflectors have Orange Peel style finish

Im really enjoying my Novatac experience, if anyone needs help with the 250 click programming unlock, Im happy to share info, feel free to PM me.

I noticed the new SPA felt lighter in my hand, turns out it weighs 13% less than the one with the black bezel:

to put the weight difference in perspective, the 8.8 gram difference is half the weight of a 16340.

the lighter weight of the 2010 model feels nice and “Light” ;-), the black bezel light feels noticeably “heavy” by comparison
the 2010 model has the lip at the end of the body tube:

Here is my Programming cheat sheet… so I can remember how to set the 5 minute shutoff timer, and other options.

Nice description

These two will get new leds soon! Hopefully they will get a little more power than the 73 lumens…to be continued.
