PACKAGING and ACCESSORIES:

The ROFIS MR50 is sold in a cardboard box with a classic ROFIS black/orange color. The main features of the torch and the included accessories are indicated on the box.

The ROFIS MR50 is sold with a protected 21700 lithium battery included in the package. The ROFIS branded battery is 5000 mAh High-Drain. These batteries are much better than the classic 18650 but unfortunately removed from the torch is difficult, due to the length, find a battery charger that can contain them.

The holster supplied with the ROFIS MR50 is of quality. It is cordura with elastic fabric sides and velcro closure. It is equipped with a double loop in the upper back part of a metal D-ring and one with a button closure in the middle.
The MR50 inserted in the case has no strange movements and is fairly protected.

----------------------------------

Having already had the ROFIS MR70 I can only confirm the excellent design and shape of this new MR50.
We note the work done by Rofis in the care of details also on this MR50.
Very compact in size, it handles well thanks to its rounded shapes. Good materials, thicknesses and writing on the torch.

On the head of the MR50 we note the steel bezel, slightly more browned than that of the MR70, and the parabola OP (orange peel). The glass has an anti-reflective coating and in the center of the reflector is the CREE XHP50.2 CW LED.

On both sides of the head we find on one side the electronic switch and on the other side the micro-USB port protected by a rubber stopper.

The electronic switch manages the entire user interface (UI) of the MR50. It is slightly sunken in its seat and is easily found in the dark. It has a metal bezel around it and in the center a small circle with the status LED underneath that acts as a residual charge indicator and locator (in addition to indicating the status of the battery being charged). The click is right as practiced and almost silent pressure.

The Micro-USB port is protected by a soft rubber cover that adheres perfectly in its seat.
The grade of water protection is IPX8.

The charging cable supplied with the ROFIS MR50 is approximately 50 cm long. Once the two USB ports are connected, the red light on the electronic switch signals that we are in the charging state. When it turns green the battery has been fully charged. While it is charging it is possible to turn on the MR50 but will only have the average level. I took just over 4 hours to fully recharge the battery.

Through the micro-USB port by connecting the appropriate Micro-USB / USB adapter provided, you can, in case of need, recharge other electronic devices such as mobile phones, watches fitness tracker etc.
During discharge, the green power indicator indicates the capacity of the remaining battery.

-----------------------------------

The ROFIS MR50, as for the previous MR70, is built in a single block very well done with rounded corners and rounded shapes. The only part that can be unscrewed is the tail (tailcap).

In the tailcap we have a double plated spring at the negative pole .
The two springs, one with greater thickness, bring a certain rigidity that certainly favors the contact with the battery. We also note the beautiful diamond-shaped knurling of the tail cap.

At the positive on the MR50 head we have a plated button as a contact.

Good threads that arrive well fattened. At the bottom of the tail cap there is a hole for inserting the lanyard supplied with the torch.

The ROFIS MR50 being flat-tailed can be placed in tail standing (candle).

When the battery is first installed in the torch, the flashlight automatically detects the battery capacity.
The green light on for 2 seconds and off indicates that the battery charge is above 40%;
The red light on for 2 seconds and off indicates battery) the power is less than 40%.

Low battery warning function
During use, when the battery charge is too low, the flashing red light of the flashlight reminds users that the battery is about to run out, please charge the torch.
Unloading function
Flashlight with discharge function, users connect the adapter to the flashlight to provide power to other devices. In the discharge process of the flashlight other functions are normally used.
Discharge power reminder
If the torch is in the process of external power supply, it will show the situation:
1) The green indicator light flashes continuously 4 times, indicating that the remaining capacity of the battery is above 80%.
2) The green indicator light flashes continuously 3 times, indicating that the remaining battery capacity is 50% -79%.
3) The green indicator light flashes 2 consecutive times, indicating that the battery charge is 20% -49%;
4) The green light flashes, it means that the remaining battery power is less than 20%;
5) When the battery charge is less than 5%, stop charging the external device.

Note: When the battery charge is less than 2%, the torch stops working.

BEAM, RUNTIME and BEAMSHOT:

The ROFIS MR50 beam is devoid of artifacts and the color is a nice cool white. Not particularly floody, it covers a reasonable distance for the type of LED mounted. The distance from the feet of the spill is about 60 cm.

The runtime was done in a closed environment without forced ventilation. The internal temperature was around 20 ° C.
The used battery, the one supplied with the torch, has been completely charged.

I would like to point out that the values expressed by the graphs must be taken, above all, as a reference because they are made with different environmental means and conditions from those used in the laboratory.

The tests were done with the MR50 set in TURBO and then in HIGH. Let's see the two curves side by side.

Now let's see the first 10 minutes.

CONCLUSIONS:

Even the Rofis MR50 like the previous MR70 proves to be an excellent torch. Even more compact, being less "pot-bellied" than the MR70, it retains the rounded lines and rounded corners. Many advantages of the ROFIS MR50 including the integrated recharge, the new 21700 battery and the Power Bank function. Of good quality also the light beam and the runtime, sin is missing a Moon level.
Thank you for reading the review.

I also am a fan of the Rofis MR50. Before I used the LedLenser M7R. But because I am using flashlights on the go, I don’t want to use a dedicated flashlight charger. That is why I bought the Rofis MR50 that I could charge with a universal micro usb. Besides that I also liked the fact that it used a 21700 form factor battery with 5000 mAh in comparison with the 18650 2200 mAh from the LedLenser M7R (even though a 21700 battery would fit inside).

A few weeks after using the Rofis MR50 I started noticing that it drained itself. I am only using it about once every one or two weeks. At first I didn’t think much of it, but then I fully charged it and left it for a weak on my desk without using it. After that week it was empty. So I took my multimeter and saw that it always draws around 25 mAh of power. Maybe this is for the powerbank feature to automatically start charging? I don’t know, but it is very annoying. I rather have a long standby (power off) time than a powerbank feature. My LedLenser works perfectly after one month of standby time (power off).

Just got one of these from Amazon to give someone as a Christmas gift.

Pretty decent for $38. Arrived instantly with Amazon Prime. Fit and finish are perfect and the accessories all look high quality.

But YIKES… Does the light really have parastic drain that bad??? Not sure if it’s appropriate to give as a gift with such bad drain.

I’ve got the ROFIS MR70 and the parasitic drain is bad. However the tail threads are anodized and a slight turn stops the drain.
