TN36-UT not turning on

Got a TN36-UT in the mail today. Using Keeppower 3500mAh (P1835J) batteries charged to ~4.2v. These were the recommended batteries from the supplier I bought it from.

Worked initially. Although sometimes the button seemed to not work unless I pressed it harder. It also seemed like it would skip modes every so often when I was cycling through low/med/high. After 10 minutes of use, the light just stopped working. It won’t turn on no matter how I press the button. The blue LED light on the button doesn’t work either (can’t remember if it ever did).

I checked various things:

- Batteries still had plenty of charge

- Batteries inserted correctly

- Spinning around the reversible battery holder

- Manually pressing the battery holder onto the plate of the light

- Tightening the thread that connects the two pieces

- Loosening the thread that connects the two pieces

  • Checking to see if I accidentally triggered an electronic lockout (there is none)

Seems like it’s just faulty and I should get it replaced. Anyone with any suggestions?

Is it a new,or a used one?Because I know that it is an older model.I have the TN36 2017 model and it is very good.

It is new. The shop I bought it from doesn’t stock the 2017 version yet.

Most likely it’s not making contact on the positive end of the battery carrier…

I can’t imagine why. Seems to be perfectly in tact. Batteries are also a fairly tight fit. It also doesn’t explain why it would suddenly stop working mid use.

You can remove the screws by the head of the flashlight… then pull the spring forward…

I think the spring is not making contact.

What do you mean by pull the spring forward? I did have a look by removing the screws earlier. The piece of metal sitting on top of the spring seems to be making contact, as it springs back up after I depress it.

Is there a warranty?

There is a spring underneath… you need to pull it forward, so it will make contact.

The spring is already making contact. You can’t screw the back plate on without it depressing the spring. I push the center piece of metal and it bounces back, because the spring is there.

Update: I have returned the light to the store. Hopefully they will send out a new one that works.
