Review: Jetbeam BC20

Well the Jetbeam BC20 is what I call a very nice compact to small in size flashlight that 2 CR123A batteries power the Cree XP-G R5 LED. It's just the right size to carry in the front or back pant pocket or front shirt pocket and it has a nice silver clip that comes with it and a nice lanyard. It weighs in at mere 3oz on my digital Rapala fish scales and that's counting batteries installed. So weight is very practical to make this an idea everyday carry flashlight. It has 2 brightness modes of high and low. I like that. No flashy modes on this one which can be annoying. With the head tightened, that is the high only setting, and to go to low you loosen the head with the led on and it will switch to low. Or you can press the forward clicky switch with the head loosened and it will come on in low mode. It features an AR coating scratch resistant hardened glass lens, a op reflector, reverse battery polarity protection, aero grade alluminum alloy construction, type III hard anodized finish for resistance to scratches, IPX-8 waterproof up to 2 meters, 2 output modes as I already stated with a said max brightness of 305 lumens and on the low setting it has a max runtime of 36hrs which is very nice. I will say the finish is superb on this flashlight. I really noticed that from the get go.

Here's a beamshot at about 12ft. Now I know that don't tell a lot, but I figured I would show you a closeup beamshot which really is to show the idea purpose for what this flashlight is for anyway.

All in all this light will probably get a lot more use than my other lights. The size and weight is why I bought this flashlight in the first place. I wanted a nice bright little pocket size light that I could carry and use for a lot of practical purposes and the beam is almost what I call perfect for everyday use. I really like that. This light definately fits the bill if you are wanting a nice small light to be practical for most uses around the house or wherever. I really like it. For $35, I feel like it's a nice quality bargain pocketcarry flashlight.

I'll give it 5 stars.

Here's a beamshot I just took off the back of my deck. It's about 22yds to that shed.

I have the BC10 with a rcr123a talk about bright and it's one of my favorite compact light. I like JetBeam and I think they have quality products. I also have the BC40 another great light.

Great review on the BC20.

Jetbeam has published the new 2012 PDF catalogue.

notes:

+ there are no new product releases planned for 2012

+ the total number of current Jetbeam models is very small. i appreciate that.

Thanks for the review .
