how the heck do i post a picture to my threads?

i have been trying to post a jpeg image from my picture folder on my hard drive but have been unsuccessful. i need help!

thanks,

monty

I use photobucket.com or hunt101.com to post my pictures here. You will just need to go to one and sign up. Then you will need to upload the picture to one of those image hosting sites and then copy and paste the image url from the picture you are wanting to post here by using the insert/edit image icon above the post box here that is a little tree next to the anchor icon. You click it and then copy and paste your image tag from your picture in the image url box. Then click insert at the bottom and your image should post here once you post save at the bottom to post your message like you always do. I also use Microsoft Image Resizer to resize my pictures that I an wanting to post to appropriate size here.

and i thought it was going to be difficult! lol

thanks

No problem. Just don't forget to remember the file that you save your picture in for you will have to know what file at the top once you go to upload your picture at either image hosting site.

Thanks I had the same trouble I was trying to drag photos directly from my desktop. BTW What is the ideal photo size for this forum?

After you click on the tree and paste the link in "Image URL" click on "appearance" and in the 2 blocks below "alignment" marked "dimensions" _______100%______x____________ px put 100% in the left block leave the right one blank and any size picture will fit perfect.

hi guys...followed your instructions but all i get is a image icon in when i preview my post. what am i missing?im using photobucket.

This how-to might help, or even this one.

thanks bro...got it.:)

I just learned this a few weeks ago and only with sb’s help. You have to make sure that the url you copy over to the insert image box contains the .jpg or .img extension. With flickr, I can’t use the url from the browser address bar, I have to right click the image and open photo properties or info to get the address with the .jpg extension.
After you insert the image on BLF, click on the Appearance tab to resize. As mentioned above, 100% in the first box will fill the frame. I have to use 50% because my iPhone picture resolution looks better at that setting.
Hope this helps.

I like using 600 x 800 pixel size.

The 100% option is the way to go. You are keeping the full uploaded resolution and never have to change anything. Also it works on anything... from smartphones to 1920*1200... resizing pics is so yesterday. ;-)

Is it a trick on the eyes, then? When I insert an image that was taken from my iPhone, it looks grainy and low res to me at 100%. Does it look better when you look at it? (Edit: They both look like crap to me. I need to start using my wife's digital camera that I got her for Christmas.)

@ 50%

@ 100%

BetweenRides, both of the images look like they would have been upsized from a thumbnail image.

Which they have, as the original images is this:

That one looks sharp.

If you upload this image at larger resolution you have no problems.

I can get the image into the post but then my text is missing or the pic is not placed where I left the cursor. I'm about to see how well an iPhone bounces off a wall, arrrgh.

If you read through it, there's some useful 'layman's language' stuff in this thread: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/5780#node-6794

Rufus, use the appearance tab, type in 50% (don't forget the %) in the first box, leave second box blank. This will resize the image to about 1/2 the width of a page. I use 50 or 75&% for lower rez pictures, such as from an iPhone. If you have HD or a good camera, 100% will take up the width of a page on anyone's computer - it autosizes. Feel free to try some more test posts in this thread so folks can walk you through with instructions.

You can check my progress in the thread " my latest bike light mod" as this is where I trying to make this work. I can already get the pictures into the post. I just don't seem to have much control over where they land.

Not sure why but the laptop works and the ipod doesn't. Typing is easier too as my thumbs are all thumbs. If you check the thread i mentioned in the lastpost here"my latest bike light mod", I tried to do some pics side by side but they just alternated down the page. Interesting look but not what I was aiming for. I used 50% for those. I wonder if 45% would get me what I wanted. Thanks for all of your help. I read posts for a few hours before I made this last attempt and was a lot more confident.

q5 3p This is how your not supposed to wire these things.

My next study session will be on linking posts within text.
