Headlamps Designed For Women???

This is more a fashion question than technological, but ergonomics and functionality might come into play…

Do any headlamp manufacturers target women in their product lines? From the searching I have done, only Black Diamond has a color scheme I would characterize as feminine. Olight has that blue ring and blue band which is maybe close to being feminine, but that goofy charging system kills my interest in giving it to the one I love! Petzl has white and blue but far from feminine. Anyone have softer, more pastel colorization? It would be nice to see combinations such as Light Gray host/Lavender Accents, Cream host/Cyan accents, Mint Green host/Pale Pink accents, etc. I realize, maybe 1 in a hundred headlamp purchases are for females, so that probably kills any business venture looking into this.

So, my lady could probably handle a black or gray anodized headlamp if the strap was purple, or sea green, or light blue, silvery, or flowery, paisley, or something “cute.” Just not with a big bold COMPANY X brand obnoxiously tattooed all over it… WHO MAKES REPLACEMENT/CUSTOM STRAPS???

Also, the easiest controls possible, meaning click on for dim, click again for low, click again for medium, click again for high, click again for SOS, click again for off, with no memory… and a charging port, probably micro usb to whatever battery makes sense. I have no idea. 18500 or 3xAAA? Could an integrated charging system be setup to charge either Li-Ion or Ni-MH?

*This inquiry is for one person in mind. I don’t doubt this could apply to many others as well, but I AM NOT attempting to classify women as a whole. Heck, my favorite color is purple… but it would have to be one very cool purple for me to wear it on my head!

My girlfriend uses the same lights I use - not sure where the problem is? Are there any gender-specific design questions, ie size or form that would require a new product or is this just regarding color schemes?

Not sure about the Headlamp but i have to say something about the:

~20 years back i wanted to paint my Bike Helmet. I prept the Helmet . . . everything was perfect clean and ready. I bought a Can of a metallic Aubergine paint (it should have been a nice dark purple aubergine tone) and painted the Helmet. I was thinking that it looks a bit bright but lets wait till its dry. Oh man the next morning was a shock! It was far away from dark blue purple! More like a bright metallic pink.
And i for sure was not man enough to ride my 600cc XT Tenere with me wearing a Pink Metallic Helmet. NoNoNo :person_facepalming:
To bad the helmet was to big for my girlfriend. She loved the Color.

AFAIK, the most you can get is a coated S2+ with that headstrap. Unfortunately.

Man, I’d have loved that helmet. That kind of pink makes you the opposite of invisible in traffic, and when you’re on a bike that’s a VERY good thing.

AFAIK, pretty much all head straps for head lamps are just plain elastic band sewn together and maybe screen printed with the company logo. If you wanted to, you could get anybody you know with a sewing machine to simply make a new strap for you out of a prettier elastic band material, available at the fabric store (or online?)

Any man can be a father. A real man can be a daddy.

So I kind of look at this in the same light as snowboarding gear. Boards, boots, bindings, pants, jackets, gloves, hats, ear muffs, what have you, come in different styles. A fashionable woman can get great functional gear that also suits her tastes… I have equipped my girl with the gear needed to snowshoe this winter. Everything is to her liking from a visual standpoint and top quality and functional from my standpoint. She doesn’t really know why she “needs” a snow shovel but she has one. She has an okay Black Diamond purple themed headlamp that she loves, but it’s seriously under powered. I want her to have a better primary and relegate the BD to a backup. I have thought of sewing together a headband for her if nothing is out there already available. Now, the question comes up, can I color a host if I find one she can operate. Does cerakote or any of the other available ceramic coatings out there trap heat in the alloy? What host can be gutted so I could re anodize it or bake it with a coating. Maybe something already comes in a shade of gun metal or silver, and the right strap will make it “hers” without going the route of host customization.

Here’s to those willing to share what they love with those they love! Cheers!

You mean like ?

Never heard that saying before but I like it. My three daughters call me Papa and I love it :crown:

Sorry I don’t have any input to OP’s question. Never come across it before.

Yep. Maybe not that specific light but the band colors work…

And that’s why we have the “Maury” show… to find out who da baby-daddy!

Wildly Capable, Simply Comfortable … and gay- friendly, IMHO

Yeah because gay people have specific aesthetic taste don’t they ? :person_facepalming:

If you want to be swept off your feet by this marketing lingo, be my guest.
But I think there are better contenders in the market, considering the price level.
That’s $49 ($62) for one little light with a 900 mAh battery and 45 min. on max.
Plus $30 for shipping?

For that kind of money you can choose from multiple lights from reputable brands.
And have some loose change left for spare (batteries and frolic headbands) parts.

6600 backers who pledged $527,514 cant be wrong

It’s a free country, but I think the Pied Piper has added Lemmings to his m.o.

Does anyone really care what color the headlamp body and head band is at night? You can’t see it anyway

Awwww, I was looking for some pretty awful Chinglish… how disappointing.

Whoa! I could get like 30 Boruits for that…

Yes.

Question: While driving your car at night do you care about the color of your car?

I get some people have no inclination for aesthetics, that function always trumps form, but in an age where both can be had at the same time, why not? Now put in place the awkwardness of certain gear, i.e. headlamps, and you have the choice between what you consider ugly and what you consider beautiful. What would you take? What would you rather use?
