Condor C8+ design/quality issues...

I purchased a Condor C8+ after seeing the reviews on BLF.
The one I received had 2 defects:
a) The LED module came un-soldered when I turned the lens to tighten it.
The reflector turned and torque sheered it off. I re-soldered it but that should not
have happened. Solder appeared to be insufficient, added solder (lead free high temp).
b) The brass on/off switch retention ring is recessed, the switch circuit board fits inside the
recess and can become loose and result in no electrical connection, Design defect in my opinion.
I corrected it by making a washer/ring out of a length of small diameter solder. Put the ring
in the recess so that the switch is tight.

Trig

Condor. Convoy.

A search doesn’t bring up a Condor light of any denomination.

You did not mention you bought a Convoy C8 form Simon (Convoy flashlight Store) on AliExpress.
To me a complete functioning light equals a host plus a driver plus a led-board with led.
When buying a host from Simon you always get two tiny screws plus a centering ring.

The shearing off you mentioned is a bit vague to me.

- did you shear off the leads to the ledboard? That would implicate that you forced the ledboard to rotate.
That is (IMHO) impossible if the ledboard is fixed with the two screws

- did you shear off the led itself from the ledboard (can’t imagine you fixed that yourself)
That’s why a centering ring (Simon calls it a gasket) is provided. First it centers the led in the reflector.
Secondly it prevents the reflector from “grabbing” the led when you tighten the bezel.

The switch(board) does not perfect fit the retaining ring in the tailcap.

- That’s no biggie. Happens once in a while. When you buy a (separate) lighted switch, for instance.
The retaining ring not only retains the switch, but also centers it. That’s why the narrow tolerance.
Just file a bit off from the switch(board) until it fits properly. Takes about 5 min.

Almost 2 years of review reading and you got a dud. Bummer.

Condor may exist, but does the infamous Condor C8+?

Having searched diligently for it with ‘no joy’… my best guess is a firm NO. .

the condor c20 has a on/on switch at the tail cap with momentary. 4:29

Come on. We have a member reporting issues and being mocked. Maybe they made a mistake. So?…
Trig, could you clarify what light did you get?
