So there's a local television station that simply called itself KMIR for fifty years.

Now they call themselves NBC Palm Springs, even though they are in Palm Desert.

It reminds me of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, California.

You're not in L.A.

And KMIR is not in Palm Springs.

Sure, no one outside Southern California has heard of Palm Desert...

But we're a great city and everyone should be proud to be from here.

Quit lying about what city you're in, or else I'll arrange a one-way trip to Raccoon City!

At least the Angels can say that Anaheim is part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area.

Palm Desert is it's own city.

There’s a small but old town 15km from Amsterdam, called Muiden, in fact it is older than Amsterdam, that has a well-preserved medieval castle dating from 1296 called the Muiderslot (Amsterdam did not get city rights until 1300). It has a long and well-known history, tied to Muiden and its river the Vecht and everyone in the Netherlands has been on a schooltrip over there in their youth.

Then, a few years ago, all of a sudden the Muiderslot was being advertised as “Amsterdam Castle” with trips going there from the center of Amsterdam, while the castle is clearly not in Amsterdam and in no point in the history of the castle it was related to Amsterdam. :weary:

Yes, since we're talking about corporate entities, I'm afraid it's all about marketing.
