That’s pretty much the same as I felt about the SST-20 4000K 95CRI emitters. At the power levels I actually use, it looked weirdly yellow and green and I didn’t like it. Lemongrass is a nicely fitting term there. The higher modes were okay, but I don’t have much use for those.

I got lucky with the other things though. The screws are in the right places, the optic is intact, I got a nice XP-L HI 5000K tint, and it has no issues aside from some sharp fins.

I received the same light: SST-20 4000K 95CRI. I have looked everywhere and I can’t find the weirdly yellow or green? I was actually looking forward to the green tint. Anyone else?

On lower modes they are a little greenish. I used a filter over my SST20s for that reason. On full blast, they have a pinkish Nichia R9080 quality to them with the filter.

I’ve also gotten a Fireflies E07 (Nichia 219B) via Neal’s.

But seems like Fireflies quality control still has a lot to do.

The button LED (the 2 that are always on when the battery is inserted) — now one of them doesn’t light up anymore. I’ve not used the flashlight much — it did work when I first received the flashlight, but now it just mysteriously doesn’t light up anymore. It’s a minor thing, but still…

(any idea how that non-lighting button can be fixed? just doesn’t look quite right with one lighted)

As mentioned by others, the heat sink fins (E07 grey) have relatively sharp edges (which can hurt the skin when sliding my hands over that part).
I read that the later clear/silver anodized has already slightly chamfered fins, so that’s at least a good sign that they know about this issue and have attempted to correct it.

Also mentioned by others, the rubber button switch feels “mushy” to click (unlike the Emisar D4/D4S, where the rubber button is a good click) — I hope they fix this next time, it just doesn’t feel as good when clicking the button..

(My E07 bezel is not glued and easily removable — is this by default, or maybe mine is an earlier production batch?)

As others mentioned, one of the legs in the optic is broken off..

The reason being there is a screw in that position of the board, so which is likely the reason why they had to cut off one leg to make the optic fit.

And one more thing – it will dent the top of the 21700 battery (I’m using a Liitokala Lii-40A), and see what it does to the battery:

what was previously nice flat top…

becomes dented top…

However, overall I’m starting to like this E07 flashlight, the size may be slightly heavier than say the Convoy S2+/Astrolux S1, but is not too much bigger. It is heavier though, due to the mass for heat sinking and the bigger 21700 battery. I was actually somewhat surprised by its size when I first received it — I had thought it would be bigger than the Emisar D4S, but as it is, it’s just comparable in size to the D4S (E07 is slightly taller, but slightly slimmer and more “curvy” and good to hold in the hands).

I’m very happy with my Naturehike diffuser:

Not beautiful and not cheap for what it is but lightweight and very universal.

Do you have any 5D or 219B 9080 lights? If so, compare it side by side with the SST-20 4000k and you will realize how green it is. I thought the tint on my SST-20 4000k looked pretty good on turbo until I compared it.

Thanks Flashoholics for another useful and very entertaining video!

As Anduril gives so many options, and the E07 has many leds, a possible future version could go crazy by using two tints (i.e. 3×3000Ksst20 4×4000ksst20) and have the tint ramping borrowed from the BLF-lantern.

Is that a problem in general with the SST-20? Currently looking into cheap options to get a glimpse of the High-CRI world.
I hate greenish tints, so I guess it won’t make me happy?

Anyone tested E07 output on 30T v 40T?

The 3000K version of the SST-20, as for sale at Kaidomain is yellow-rosy, nothing green about that one. The 4000K version does not have that rosy hue at all, but I would not call it green.

Is anyone with a grey E07 interested in a black aluminum body? I have no experience with dismounting the E07 to remove the internals (and I haven’t even received my E07 yet), but I had to take a black version to get the combination between emitter and auxiliary leds I wanted, though I preferred grey or silver. I would happily swap!

Mine is clear ano, beveled edges on the fins so nothing sharp there, and the SST-20’s are 5000K, supposedly.

So … I ordered a Fireflies E07 7x SST20/Nichia/XPL HI 6900LM.

What is the word regarding the best 21700 battery for this beauty?

40T should be better than VTC6A I think. The 40T is a larger cell.

It’s confusing but the VTC6A is sold in 21700 size by mostly rewrappers and is nearly the same as 40T in capacity and output.

Shipping appears to be much improved for E07 (shipped China E-packet) vs my PL47 (shipped registered post).

Both PL47 and E07 ordered directly from FF with FREE shipping and freeme’s discount code.

E07 ordered 1/6/19, shipped 1/9/19, delivered today 1/15/19. More details to follow.

So, y’all ready?

Big Smile

With a Samsung 30T, not quite fresh off the charger, my E07 now makes 9,349.5 lumens at start. What? I didn’t change much… Silly

I wonder if the 50e would make a decent trade off? Extra 1000 mah but how much of a lumen loss vs 40t?

My guess: new FET, copper tail + bypass, sliced XP-L2 or sliced LH351D? Not sure if those will fit with their domes.

When I bought the clear ano E07, SST-20’s were a base price… no premium mark-up. I didn’t know what they would do or how they would look so I got it that way. Then when I put the 30T in it yesterday afternoon and saw them go blue, I knew they weren’t going to be staying. With the thermal stepdown reset, you could actually see the stepdown in the color of the beam, it warmed to the lemongrass color as it went down. Nope, couldn’t do that.

So this afternoon, when the mailman rang the doorbell, I welcomed home 30 Samsung LH351D in the W6 power bin at 5000K. Big Smile Now, these babies make it right! Nice even tint from moon to Turbo, albeit a larger hot spot. At just under $2 each when ordering in a quantity over 20, well, it just made sense.

Charged up the 30T, tested low lumens at 0.05175 and Turbo at 9246 lumens at start, at 20 seconds it stepped down but was making 8452.5 lumens. Such a nice creamy white tint, I do believe the W6 5000K LH351D is my favorite emitter. Big Smile

I didn’t change anything else. Well, except for thermal paste. Seems mine had very little to no thermal paste… the copper MCPCB came out dry and untouched by anything. Not so anymore.

So the optic fits that large of an emitter without risk of shearing them off?

When I receive my units, I’ll be able to test that. I am expecting an E07 Nichia 219B, an E07 XPL Hi 4000K, a 40T and a 50E. I will only have my phone to measure the output though.

Did anyone measure the output of the SST-20 6500K option?
Manufacturer rating of 4500 Lumens seem kinda low when the the XPL-Hi 6500 is rated (and can do) 6900. That would be ~35% less output.

In comparison: Emisar rates the D4s with XPL-Hi 6500K with 4300 lumens, the SST-20 6500K with 4200 lumens. That’s only ~2.3% less output.

Something is off(?)
