Thanks… cleaned it all and it turned out to be the female tailcap. basically turned a tissue jet black after cleaning and she’s functioning tip top now.

Still.. I’m kind of surprised I had to thoroughly clean my 3 day old light… lol

It’s pretty easy to transfer stuff to/from batteries, your fingers, grease from threads, oxidation, etc. Your other lights might be dirty too and if they are lower power or different type of driver the problem could manifest itself differently or not at all. I just clean them no matter what. Some people also re-do the grease or apply a thin layer or stuff like this:

I received my EO7 today and noticed something strange. Only two of the aux LED’s on the switch is on. Why is this? See pictures. Help would be appreciated!

If the light was ON during the picture that is how it's supposed to work.

If the light was OFF do this (there is no low/high, only high/off I think):

Aux LEDs / Button LEDs
----------------------

Some lights have aux LEDs or button LEDs. These can be configured to do
different things while the main emitters are off. There is one aux LED
mode for the regular "off" mode, and another aux LED mode for "lockout"
mode. This allows the user to see at a glance whether the light is
locked.

Aux LED modes typically include:

  - Off
  - Low
  - High
  - Blinking

To configure the aux LEDs, go to the mode you want to configure and then
click the button a few times:

  - Off mode: 7 clicks.
  - Lockout mode: 3 clicks.

This should change the aux LEDs to the next mode supported on this
light.

For lights with a button LED, the button LED typically stays on while
the main emitters are on. Its brightness level is set in a way which
mirrors the main LED -- off, low, or high.

For lights with front-facing aux LEDs, the aux LEDs typically stay off
when the main emitters are on, and when the light is otherwise awake.
The aux LEDs on most lights only turn on when the light is asleep.

The light was off in the picture. When I turn the light on, the aux/switch LED’s turn off. There’s only an on/blinking/off option in the settings. Only two LED’s on the switch. https://photos.app.goo.gl/adtzmA91pPf58etz5
There’s a picture of the light when on and the UI sheet that came with the light.

If 7 clicks while off doesn’t fix it then it’s probably a wire has come loose

Do you know if the driver is glued? I don’t see a retaining ring…

Anybody here place an order recently and get DHL shipping? How long did it take before the tracking number was active?

I selected DHL, and got a shipping confirmation the day after I placed the order, but after 2 days, it’s still not trackable. The DHL tracking number is also different from other DHL tracking numbers I’m familiar with; it has the format “L##########D,” but usually they are just numbers, I think. Since DHL Express is a 2-3 day service from other countries, it seems like it should be at least trackable by now. Is it a Chinese holiday?

Edit: OK, so today I got a text message from DHL informing me that a package was just sent. Totally different tracking number, although it is the same package. I placed the order Sunday night, got the shipping confirmation Monday afternoon, and it’s now Thursday.

It seems that you can only view the thumbnails unless you are a member of TLF. Can you just post here too?

OK, just posting an update. It’s Tuesday, April 16th, I got my E07 a little earlier, and as of right now, it looks good, appears to function normally, and has no obvious flaws with aux LEDs, as others have reported. I ordered it when the website said it was the second production run. The QC stamp on the box is dated February 15, 2019. I have no way to confirm if it has the correct amount of thermal paste and don’t feel like unscrewing it at the moment. Overall, I really like it. This has the Nichia 219b emitters. Very nice amount and quality of light. Edit: Just played with it in the back yard at night and WOW, what a beautiful effect that pinkish tint has on the budding trees this time of season. Lots of heat generated very quickly, though. I spent about 20 minutes playing with the dog, shining the light into the woods on turbo periodically, and when I came in, the battery was at 4.1 volts, which seems pretty good to me.

It took a total of 8 days from order to when I should have received it (there was one extra day because the DHL driver had it on his truck yesterday but didn’t drop it off until today), which is a good turnaround. In reference to my comment above, the initial tracking number that Jacky sent out, which had the format “L########D” was in fact on the inner box, but DHL also gave the package a second tracking number, attached to a plastic wrapper around that box, which I didn’t get until I started getting SMS updates about tracking. I assume that the first tracking number is internal to China, since it was useless for DHL’s international site.

I would pay 15 extra for USB charge version. Would be eve. Better if it can function as power bank like the TO56R or Rofis MR50, MR30. Great for taking on trips

Not me… I think USB charging on the E07 would royally screw up a great light. I hope FireFlies leaves the E07 as is with no USB charging….. ever.
The size it is now is perfect.

Just because you dont want it, dont ruin it for others who see it as a useful feature. Choices are always good for consumers.

I came to like cells that feature charging (and sometimes even powerbank). Buy 1 cell like that and you can upgrade many lights…
…but that works only for lights that support protected cells. And E07 is not one of them.
And it doesn’t wor perfectly for super hot rods – because these cells don’t tend to be high discharge ones. And E07 is one of them…

Thumbs Up .. I understand that, it’s just my opinion on the matter. Just as your preference is yours.

I could say the same thing to you…. Just because you want it, don’t ruin it for others who see it as a useless feature that is not wanted in most lights. Consumers appreciate functional simplicity more than unneeded or unwanted bells & whistles.

See what I did there??…. Neither one of us is right, or wrong; completely.
It is simply “our individual opinions”.

No it is completely not the same. You are telling them not to create a usb alternative when there is already a non usb version. There does not exist a usb version for those who want one. We want the option to buy a usb version which is none of your business if you dont want one. Why dont you just go buy the non usb version and be happy?

Sure it is completely the same thing.

I have no problem at all if they want to create another version of the E07 that has USB & whatever else. (Call it the ‘E07-b&w’ maybe)

But that is not what Ekstasis asked for. He asked for a new updated version. That would take away our choice to buy more E07’s without USB, which many consumers consider a useless/unneeded feature in a light. I am proudly one of those consumers.

And so because someone wants something they should have it? Regardless of the inherent danger? The Emisar lights have a focus on ultimate performance in a compact structure, the entire design concept leaves no room for the charging circuit being asked for nor the likely ensuing loss of performance. It is not so much WE should be happy to “mind our own business” as it is we should help protect muggles that do not know what they are doing. Cells such as the high discharge non- protected 21700’s this light is designed to use should be charged outside of the light, carefully monitored to preserve a safety margin the users life may well depend on. Li-ion safety is extremely important, one major incident where poor design costs lives could impact us all in ways we’d truly hate to see.

My vote, my experience, goes with no built in charger for ANY light, you want easy stay in elementary school. Life, and it’s inherent pursuits, is not easy.

And of course, that’s my opinion and you are welcome to it. Wink

Yeah, I’d like to see E07 with usb charger, but I get that E07 is too small/compact to accommodate usb charging. That’s why I’m looking forward to Astrolux MF01 mini.

This is plain wrong as muggle will buy a flashlight with a battery OR forget to buy a battery and complain about it later (that flashlight was sold without battery). He will most likely buy some YourHouseOn*Fire* brand with 9000 mAh and cheapest wall/usb battery charger. I did not see the picture of “2 bay 21700 / 18650 charger” FF sells as an optional accessory to E07, but I highly doubt that it is in any way better than usual in-flashlight charger.

USB chargers suck. Leave that to the big light conglomerates. Boutique lights shouldn’t have USB charging and all the little cute bells n whistles.

No USB for me. Please keep the USB OUT of the discussion..

the light had already many problems we don't need to create a new one. Not to mention the water proof issue this one alone can make. And this can make it completely useless light

Charging in or out the light is not just about easy vs. hard. For me it’s more about convenient vs. inconvenient. In this case I actually prefer the inconvenient way….but that’s only because it’s cheaper and available. If the cost difference was marginal and lights with built-in powerbanks were abundant – I’d clearly prefer built-in. And I actually fail to see why one would prefer hard for the sake of hard unless improving skills was a goal by itself. Which doesn’t seem to be the case.
And I’d say that built-in is the safer way. It can prevent many kinds of user misuse, both caused by lack of education (inserting a cell the wrong way) and not (mishandling).
