CK's huge 3535 GAW. Tons of lights given away!

Welcome to my 3535 give away thread! Even though I just did a 3000 post GAW over the summer the number 3535 is so important to us here at BLF I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to go all out plus I like to build lights and build more than I’ll ever use!

My first thought was to give away 35 lights but that’s not financially possible so I thought a little more and instead Im going to give away as many as I can but all will feature 3535 emitters. As of typing this post I’m up to 14 total emitters in 7 lights but I definitely intend to add anything and everything I can in the mean time, check back often and feel free to converse, this is going to be a longer running GAW (I still need 2xx some posts to get to the magic number and I still need the time to get more prizes built) and as such I will keep a log of entries, it’s not based on post number so feel free to post away. There is no set end date, the end of the GAW will be whenever I reach 3535 posts.

Rules: There are no rules! Open to anyone and everyone registered at BLF as of November 1 2018! Its mainly a drawing however interesting photos, funny posts and good stories (especially light related) may result in you having higher odds or even an instant win!
Clarification to rules, here’s how I’m doing it:
If you post in this thread you’re in (unless you specifically bow out for any reason), I will then add your name to a numbered list one time, if you somehow qualify for a second entry I will add you a second time. At the end of the contest I’ll use a random number drawing thing interesting method of my choosing to pick numbers and winners can choose from the prize pool in the order their number was drawn.

Prize pool in no particular order (i.e. the first light listed isn’t the “grand prize” or anything like that, just listing them as they’re ready)

Astrolux S41 2x Nichia 219c D240, 2× 219c D280, running my customized A6 FW. Baked to make it bronze.

Ultrafire AT-008 quad Nichia 119. Custom FET+1 driver (by me) running anduril.

The AT-008 driver is good to go, here’s the first one I built with recycled parts, all new 0603 size parts are on their way to build the actual one for the GAW light I just threw this one together today cause the boards got here. Haven’t built the SC02 version yet but that board was done off the same .sch so I’m confident it’s good too.

SolarStorm SC02 Chinese 365nm LED running single mode + strobe Eswitch-13 (Tom E. FW)

Astrolux A01 Cree XT-E blue (stock driver)

C_K’d SK98 with XP-E2 Torch and Warhawks SK driver with Dr. Jones FW.

Aleto N8 with green XP-E2 (cool cause it has the smallest of all XP color dies so makes the best color throw), same other specs as SK98 above.

Nitecore C6R, XP-L and red Olson Signal with custom drivers (yes plural, driverS)

I also have several more interesting 3535 emitters that I definitely want to include but I’ve not got the hosts nailed down for them yet:
A pair of cherry picked for max output XP-L HI’s
Phosphorus converted (PC) amber XP-E2

Anyway that’s it for now. Again please feel free to post up, joke, tell stories, your post IS NOT your entry so multiple posts are fine. Remember to check back often as there is no cut-off date and with the shipment notices I’ve got this week I expect there to be prize updates soon!

My dog doesn’t really improve the creepiness aspect of hanging out in a pitch black forest on Halloween.

3535 is the package size that manufacturers have basically standardized on, i.e. XP size, 3.5mmx3.5mm.

How did the Cree emitter react to the Nichia 219B’s tint?

It was green with envy!

And yeah, I’m in.

If I win anything you won’t have to pay for shipping since I’m about 15 miles east of Columbus Wink
Thanks for the giveaway, BTW.

Congratulations @Cereal_killer for your post count and thanks for the giveaway!

I decided to share a beamshot I captured with the Fitorch M30R and it came out pretty fascinating - at least to my eyes Smile
I gave away the light to a friend, so this picture is what I got left from it!

He C_k! Very nice giveaway here. I’m not gonna be in for this one, but there’s gonna be some very happy people when the day comes. That’s quite a collection of prizes! Party

Thanks for the giveaway Big Smile

Unfortunately I don’t have any funny stories as I’m pretty careful about not pointing my lights anywhere that might cause issues, that being said my D4 has been the only light that attracted instant attention even when I thought I was testing it somewhere I wouldn’t annoy people.

Funny story…I actually found myself wondering if I had “enough” lights. Big Smile

Thanks for the GAW.

Ok, I’m back for seconds, I’m in.

I was fortunate enough to win during your last giveaway the Supfire A6. It is one of only two 18650 lights that I have, the other being my Emisar D4. While technically a 18650 light, I run my D4 with the short tube and an 18350, So the A6 is actually the only light I run with 18650s. I use it often. You got it too me originally just before a vacation, and on that trip I used it most nights when we took the dog for a walk to spot bunnies in the neighborhood. I have found it a great companion for my D4 on nightly walks at home as well. The D4 does great in illuminating our walking path, but when I want to spy owls flying in the distance the A6 puts a great spot on them.

Thanks for the GAW!

Congrats CK!
Thanks for the giveaway.

My wife was telling me the other day I have enough flashlights. So this is the way to get a fix!

Congratulations on your upcoming 3535 post.

Don’t I already have enough flashlights? Yes, eh.. no. Please put me on your list.
My late mother-in-law always said: at my bedsite is always room for one more man in a white coat.

Thinking of how things have evolved.
I used to go on holidays in a noisy car, with a moody wife who could not read maps.
Technically everything has evolved like from zinc-carbon into Li-Ion batteries.
So now I go on holidays in a comfortable car with sat-nav, …. and a moody wife.

I always think long and hard before I say something really stupid.

My six year old son chose his own Halloween costume, no idea why he included a Nerf tactical vest but at least he added some LED lights:

Hi CK.
Congrats and thanks for the GAW of beautiful lights. Please count me in!

This is great because technically, I am not “buying any more lights” still.
