Looks very nice – a rich, titanium gold.

Is it really that color in Real Life™, or just the way the pic came out?

Mine’s a sort of greenish-grayish-gold color, hard to describe, especially as it seems to change color depending on ambient light. I called it a sort of “pewter gold”.

I like it, as it’d certainly unique, but hey, I’d love a gold-gold color like is in the pic.

The two I have definitely differ in color, regardless of the lighting.

The original one I received during summer is more brown, and captured fairly well in d_t_a’s picture.

The newer one is slightly darker, and the finish has a little more sheen to it, like a car coat that has more metallic flake in it. The picture above exaggerates the effect, but it does pop a bit more. It’s hard for my phone camera to capture, but the shot of the bezels give a better idea of the difference.

It’s not a huge difference, but I prefer the newer one.

The way the bezel is machined is also different. The bevel is larger and deeper, so the rim is slimmer. The Hot symbol is also shifted down a bit, though that could be due to variation (the Sofirn logo is also different, but I’m not sure if it’s intentional, with the “So” looking like a normal font, and the “firn” using a condensed version. The ® is gone altogether.)

Fortunately I could also use my D4 to keep my hands warm.

Is that how the new SP32A v2.0 gold looks like now?

It used to look like this, very “pale gold”, as it was called that time. More like a light brown color.

(SP32A black — SP32A v2.0 silver — SP32A v2.0 pale gold)

the SP32A v2.0 silver  comes in 2 types, depending on batch probably — I’ve noted a glossy silver and a matte silver)

Flashlight kit has enough inventory now, and inventory of Black, Gold, Silver light only is on the way to FBA warehouse. It seems UPS is slowed down. Any bad weather in LA?

It would be nice if you could get this going on Amazon Canada. I’d be very happy to get one if you did.

Where did you hear that?. Current air quality in LA is good. https://aqicn.org/city/los-angeles/

“The 2018 wildfire season is the most destructive wildfire season on record in California, with a total of 7,579 fires burning an area of 1,667,855 acres……”

Sad Sad Sad

Why so many fires happened in CA?

Don’t think so. Current air quality in LA is good. https://aqicn.org/city/los-angeles/

That’s great. Then I think it’s just because of too many goods in transit. By the way, the air quality is great compared with my city!

At the risk of this “igniting”…

Because some damnfools believe in “conservation” to the point where they do anything’n‘everything to prevent small brushfires.

That ends up with a decades-long collection of dead underbrush, sticks, leaves, bushes, etc. (also called “tinder”) which when it does finally catch fire, takes half the state with it.

Worse, property owners there are threatened with arrest and jail if they build their own firebreaks, clear dry ditches (federally classified as “waterways” even if they haven’t seen a drop of water flowing through them in decades) of any burnables, bulldoze away dead wood, and so on, and so on, and so on.

Some people didn’t care, said “Go’head, arrest me”, and did just that, cleared away burnables, built firebreaks, etc., and their homes were among the only ones that were spared.

Wildfires happen every year in CA, and have been before man ever showed up. With more people moving into fire areas, you are hearing about them more often. Also, forest management is hotly debated subject, and has been for decades.

According to this, there were huge fires in the 1950’s in the Santa Barbara basin. I don’t know when they started keeping actual records of the size of fires. Obviously today, we have much better technology to record them. I don’t think they had much of a clue how big or small fires were 60 years ago. No satellite imaging, no communications, sparse population, no way to extinguish them, etc…

The CODE for the ‘kits’ were sent a couple of days ago (at least mine was).

It will be a few more days before the CODE for the ‘Light Only’ is sent. Waiting on stock to arrive at Amazon.
