Klarus Marketing hits New Low*** Update, Klarus apologizes

Anyone else find this Klarus ad disgusting?

Just to be fair, Klarus just issued an apology.

:person_facepalming: :person_facepalming: :person_facepalming:

This saddens my heart :frowning: Clearly someone should be invited to leave the company…

Ack! That is so tasteless. :confounded:

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!!!

This makes me not want to buy Klarus lights ever again.

It’s also quite untrue. I highly doubt that having a flashlight with instant strobe in his hand would have saved that man’s life.

All they think about is money. It’s a common thread

There is just so much wrong with this, and I’m not even sure which is the worst:

  1. Using the family, most likely without their permission
  2. Capitalizing on their tragedy
  3. Implying that a flashlight is a magical safety force field

Although, I’m inclined to think the last one is the worst, especially if some idiot believes it and that causes further tragedy.

Most Klarus lights that are even close to being interesting to me seem way overpriced for what they are, so I wasn’t likely to buy one, anyway. Now. Nope.

Yeah , that’s pretty bad

it can quickly disorient the danger

Is this real?

What is the exact link to this ad?

This ad clearly demonstrates a lack of morality and compassion.
I certainly will not be a Klarus customer.

Not sure it’s an ad. Given that it has a “13 hrs” tag under Klarus Lighting I bet it was posted on a board somewhere, and most likely by a Klarus employee. In any case it’s a terrible posting/ad.

It was on their Facebook page. I checked about 15 minutes ago, and there were something like 24 all negative comments. But the post is removed now.

To quote someone famous:

Sad!

Not sure….maybe a cultural misunderstanding but definitely dis-respectful and insensitive.

Anyway good that they took it down

As far a Klarus’ products go…they need to be cheaper, every time I consider them I always manage to find a comparable product with similar specs and always a hell of a lot cheaper

Next they’ll imply that this strobe will also chase away immigrants applying for asylum.

As stupid as it was to post that ad. They really don’t understand gun violence there. Firearms are severely restricted and death by firearms is almost non existent when looked at per capita. China is also hardcore on criminals. Handing out death sentences for things that if done here would get you probation and a fine. The Chinese also seem to have a great deal of respect for life and their fellow man. So I assume them seeing the gun violence that happens here in the US as something that can be fixed. They think they have a product that could even the odds but since gun violence is so rare and normal citizens often times don’t report crimes, they don’t understand how very wrong they are. You know there is a difference between being stupid, ignorant, and plain old not understanding. I think they just don’t understand. I also think they should have run that ad by someone higher than them before they posted it.

China might not have much homicide by firearm, but China certainly has death, and I’d be surprised if using someone’s death to sell a product in this way wasn’t considered disrespectful.

If you read into the core of message. This what in depth detail of posting means.

” If the guy had a flashlight as only option of defensive he might have had survival chance ” ” He checked on neighbor and mistakenly shot because of being in total darkness ” ” No visibility in with major darkness in neighbor’s vision scope”

So maybe wording is wrong. But message is perceived differently from person to person.

I am not partial to Klarus, Nitecore, Olight, Powertac, Eagletac, Sofirn, etc…… or any company. I own most if not all flashlights on market. So no bias here.

Yet they articulate the english language very well on the rest of their page

The 15% was the kicker. Not good.

Klarus just issued an apology. update in OP
