Nitecore SRT9 - disassembly?

Hi,
I’m thinking about changing the emitter in my SRT9 for something a little bit warmer. Of course, first I have to disassemble it, but I was not successful so far. Did anyone succeed? How to disassemble it, any ideas, tips?

Hello.

The SRT9 has a screw-on bezel. The stock emitter is a 6v xhp50, I have changed my SRT9 emitter for a nichia 144 from virence.

Once you unscrew the bezel, you can see that the RGB-UV emitters are on a separate board, which is stuck down with some sort of double sided tape, IIRC. The original MCPCB has a thermistor in it, which controls the temperature regulation. You can either:

1: Reflow a different xhp50 led on the stock MCPCB

2: Change the MCPCB and ignore the thermistor, which is what I did. Not the best idea if you are worried about overheating, but the 144 emitter creates less heat than the XHP50 and hasn’t caused me troubles. Wrap the termistor leads in kapton tape. If they short, the flashlight will think it’s basically on fire and work only on moonlight.

3: Change the MCPCB, solder the thermistor straight to the leads, and glue it to the MCPCB with some thermal adhesive. Probably the best idea, but I’m lazy.

The reflector should simply fall out after removing the lens and oring. Give it a few whacks, carefully.

You can do everything from the bezel, so there is not need to dissasemble anything else, in my experience.

Awesome, thanks a lot! :+1:

I 3D printed a bezel removal tool and replaced the XHP50 to a 5000K XHP50.2
