2008 looks better to me TBH. Machining/host design really did peak in the early years IMO. All of the best looking lights I can think of are from 7 years ago or more.
I don’t think we can call it “groundbreaking”, it’s an existing tech being incorporated first in a purpose-built flashlight. I youtube a very short teaser video yesterday, will share the link later…
TBH I’m not sure that the said tech is more useful than the traditional tech used for years…
Of course I’ll not reveal what the said tech is, because I was asked to keep my mouth shut.
A second one comes to mind though, and this one will be useful IMO.
You are not the only one.
Let me think why I do not have Olight:
Are they budget? NO.
Can I find coupon for better price? NO.
Are they offering warm and neutral tint as option for all models? NO.
Are they the only one company which offering high quality flashlights? NO.
I have 3 Olights.
A purple i3S modded with 219B and signs of wear
A purple i3S modded with 219B as good as new
A silver (chromed i think) i3E of which i recently killed the driver…
The i3S is a very nice light. Best twisty switch i know of.
the i3E is not as good, it’s a crappy build, but it’s very small and very light weight.
The new i3T (?) is probably good but looks like crap.
Other Olights i find too expensive and the reviews don’t impress me either.
The S mini and the little angle light (H2R?) are very cute though.
So, what’s this hype supposed to be then?
O wait, you can’t say…
LOL! Agreed. It’s one of those WT* moment and immediately followed by “naughty” thoughts… :smiling_imp:
@JaredM, I sometimes share the same sentiment too… especially when their new release is just quirky imo; although I do like that Olight is one of a few handful of companies that are not afraid to explore new things… except in the area of High CRI + Good Tint. I guess the numbers in their spreadsheet are not encouraging in that CRI department… I am still hoping they will “surprise” us next year.
chinooker*, *Tangra, @Jerommel, thank you for your feedback. Do keep them coming especially in the many Olight’s review threads and/or youtube videos, these are the feedback manufacturers needed to hear to influence their design decisions and marketing campaign.
@Lightbringer, sorry about the dizziness… of the four guesses, one of them is spot-on. :+1:
The battery is reversed, negative to the head side, positive to the button side. Maybe the button is the charging port, i don’t know, but there is definitely something new with the button that has a metallic part instead of rubber.
The M2R already features that, so it’s safe to assume that this one will use it too.
The MCC charging solution is handy, but you’re stuck with proprietary Olight batteries.
The original Olight m20 warrior was my first flashlight too. I still use that light as one of my bed side lights.
I like the instant strobe and the very low low.
