Best hi-drain 18650 and 18350 batteries?

hi, I would like to ask every one here, may you recommend what is the best high current (>10A) discharge batteries here? By best I mean best high current discharge and still good capacity. I have read the following 18650 have good review:

LG HG2 Brown - 20A 3Ahr

Samsung 30Q Pink - 20A 3Ahr

Do you have your favorite and why?

Do you also have suggestion for good high discharge 18350 short battery? Thank you for reading.

Both the LG HG2 and Samsung 30Q are about the same in terms of capacity/power.

The Samsung 30Q is slightly better in terms of discharge performance, and better cycle life. It also looks better than a brown wrapped LG HG2. Less chance of counterfeiting too.

Best 18350: https://www.illumn.com/18350-keeppower-imr18350-1200mah-high-discharge-flat-top.html

thank you blueswordm. I notice many 18350 batteries are not branded with big brand names. Do you know why? If LG and Samsung make so many good 18650 cell, do they not make any 18350 cells?

Similar, if KeepPower make good 18350 cell, do they make good 18650 cells also? thank you.

Large companies like LG Chem and Samsung only make 18650/21700/20700 because there is enough demand to set up factory lines for large purchases like EV manufacturers/power tools.

However, for 18350, there is not enough demand to actually make them, so Chinese companies have to build them with lower specifications due to less experience and knowledge in the field.

For example, the 1100mAh 18350 made by PLB can do 10A no problem. Theoretically, if it was made by a large company, the capacity would be 1400-1500mAh at 10A instead.

Keeppower takes good cells, and rewraps them. They do not make them. Still, their cells are good.

I would recommend sticking with brand name cells for 18650s, and Keeppower/Vapcell for rewrapped 18350s.

I agree the Samsung 30Q’s are arguably the best for your purpose. But the authentic HG2’s have by no means less cell life. I have 6 authentic HG2’s that have been recharged at least once a day for the last two years, and are still in excellent shape with relatively low internal resistance. Although I almost never discharge them below 2.8v, all 6 have at least 700 cycles, and still seem to still have 70%+ runtime of my 6 brand new 30Q’s I just replaced them with.

You can’t lose with either. Both best in class IMO. Just don’t buy them from Amazon or an Aliexpress source unless you know what your are doing. Hard to give you a recommendation where to buy, since you don’t say where your are from. You can put your location in your profile, and we wouldn’t need to ask.

I like the brown ones

I have a set of VTC-whatevers (forget if 5/5A/6) that I got specifically for a Q8 and/or MT09R, but I’ve got plenty of 30Qs, and you can’t go wrong with them.

Always thought the HG2s looked kewl, like little sticks of dynamite.

Currently, the Shockli 18350 is the best.

I like the Vapcell 18350 —- have good capacity around 1100 mah amperage is around Efest purples

18650: Samsung 30Q
18350: Vapcell

I just ordered 2 Vapcell 18350 after reading HKJ’s review.

No. All other things being equal, halving the height of a cell will decrease both capacity by ~50, and the discharge rate by ~50 as well, due to the reduction in overall electrode area.

I like samsung 30q… they are available in button top too…

I have the vapcell 18350 and those have been highly rated. Sometime in the spring the manufacturer apparently changed the construction with some reduction in performance. I don’t know if that’s been corrected yet.

The top performer around 15A continuous is the Sony VTC6 and VTC6A. Be wary of fakes!
Ever so slightly below that and only by a tiny percentage is the Samsung 18650-30Q. Again, be wary of fakes!

According to HKJ’s test these are as good and slightly better in some amp settings than VTC5A.

Amy from Apexium gave me Four and I am using them in my TN42vn90 and they work very well! I can get them for $5.20 from their Houston warehouse.

Their run time equaled 30Q in my test w/ TN42vn90. :+1: They are rated at 25 Amps continuous.

Hey wolfdog, skylumen told me to use protected cells on my tn42vn90… i wonder why your light takes unprotected…

The Wolf likes living on the Wild Side————————

Of course the Apexium 18650 2600mAh cells are much better than the Sony/Murata US18650VTC5A because they are rewraps of the Molicel INR-18650-P26A cells, the same cell used by Vapcell in its latest rewrap: “VapCell Green INR18650 2600mAh 25 Amps Continuous ”. Since the P26A Molicel of a design and use of more recent technologies that aging VTC5A de Sony/Murata, it is normal that results are best in terms of performance.

Guess what. He does not always know what the correct batteries are!

After 3 months of using his RECOMMENDED LG MJ1 PROTECTED cells, the lights LVP came on within 5 seconds of activation. These are FULLY charged batteries. It steps down b/w 3 and 8 times before it will run on max. Run time was 31 total minutes on max b4 this happened. NOW,they only get 21 minutes before LVP comes on for Good,I suspect the light also degraded the batteries. I know they are GENUINE,LIIONWHOLESALE has genuine batteries and these same batteries worked fine in other lights minus the degradtion.

Circuit protection in cells are probably giving too much resistance.

My APEXIUM INR 18650 2600mAh batteries work great[Unprotected],and so will my GENUINE Molicel P26A when I get them next week. They appear to be the same cells by MOOCH’S test, combined w/ HKJ’s test and my vast knowledge!!
