Uninstalled Android Chrome browser and it deleted all files in its download history (!!!)

A couple days ago I “updated” (cough!) Android Chrome in my handheld device to 71.0.3578.83. Didn't liked it for shenanigans reasons, no need to go into detail in this respect. Thus, I proceeded to downgrade. After going back to 70.0.3538.110 the shenanigan was somehow still there: no bookmarks or downloads direct links in homepage. A bit uneasy but at the same time somehow relieved (browser looks since v70 sucks) downgraded further to 69.0.3497.100. Restored my custom flags configuration and good to go…

Today, however, I've noticed a major flaw, and I've rechecked it with my current v69: upon uninstallation the browser takes the liberty to delete all the files downloaded with it still present in its download history. This means any and all files not yet renamed or moved from the download folder since a few months ago. Luckily I often rename or move some stuff but, in any case, MAJOR WTF.

From now on I'll at least let the browser download to whatever folder and then periodically move the crap out of its way. And I am yet to go open a thread in the Google Help Forums, yet this, in any case, is a real fuck up (sorry).

Later for more.

Cheers ^:)

It also happened to me recently but Firefox but luckily i only use Firefox to download some of my music. I’ve learnt my lesson now and like you, i remove all the files from the download folder right after downloading.

It happened to you with Firefox, mk23?

This is really dubious. Of course it could be thought “it is a bug” but I'm not biting the bullet, I am not acquiesceing with all of their blatant bullshit. Right now software development for ad sponsored apps is going at a wicked rate in many cases, and absorbed in half-truths for the hype factor.

Have some fun my dears (swear warning): Chrome deleting files in its download history upon uninstallation :-/
