Looking for a thrower!

I am helping my friend buy the best flashlight for his application. He is looking for a long distance thrower with a nice defined circle of light to spot light animals over long distance.

High lumen output and max distance, and a nice defined circle of light are a must,…several hundred yards are his goal. Budget of less than $100 but may be willing to bump it up if needed.

What do you recommend?

nice compact thrower. if you want long runtimes i suggest a bigger light.(v6 gets hot on turbo after couple of minutes)

Emisar D1S (5D), Thrunite Catapult V6 (neutral white) - Illumn currently has those for $53 with coupon code “cybermonday”.

Both are good for 700m FL1 throw, so enough to see clearly at about half that. The Catapult comes with a battery and has USB charging if that’s useful to your friend.

I second polarweis suggestion and if you decide to go with it make sure to use ( 20% ) as a coupon to bring the price down to Grand Total of $59.99 USD. I ordered mine directly from ThruNite and they used amazon to send it to me.

Maxtoch Archer A1, which is about the same size as the D1S but throws farther and brighter.

Thanks for the suggestions but these all seem like small lights,…I was picturing a bigger flashlight with maybe two 26650 size batteries.

I am also concerned with the spill, he wants as little spill as possible with a tight, defined spot.

Keep in mind I have made some bold claims on what you guys could find him for his $100 budget,…I don’t want to disappoint!

the haikelite HT35 uses two 26650 cells and uses a zoom lens. which will give you a tight hotspot with no spill. the light is a little heavy tho.

Nitecore has several lights in the TM series that would fit the bill, but they are all over $100. The Nitecore P30 is a single 18650 light with a very nice tight center beam, and just enough spill to be able to see one’s surroundings, without being so bright that it negates seeing into the distance. MSRP is $65, but I have seen it as low as $35 during the holiday sales.

Another light that I am hearing good things about is the Lumintop GT Mini, the little brother of the Lumintop GT. Now the GT would be the ideal light for your friend, except that it retails for around $250. On the other hand, the GT mini is a single 18650 cell light with a large reflector that has an F1 rated throw of 750m. Best thing about it is that right now it is selling for $50. Lumintop has been building a reputation for quality lights, and I have yet to see a bad review for the GT Mini. If I didn’t already have my P30 I would definitely be ordering one.

How about this light?

Two great choices:
Concentrated tight beam and ramping inerface, the Emissar D1S out throws any midsize light. I have several and they are awesome performers! $35 on International outdoors of $40 in the US from MTN Electronics in the U.S.
More output, a little wider beam but still a high performing thrower to 800 yards is the Lumintoo ODL20C. It also has built in charging and is pretty good at handling heat. With a coupon on here you get it for under $60.
I own more than one of both and very highly recomend them!

The Convoy L2 is a nice thrower. Nice pencil-beam…

Else if you want near-zero spill, get a zoomie like a Jaxman Z1.

Get a D1S+ with 320kcd. The Imalent RT35 can also be had for under $100 with coupon

I would think the D1S Hank at International Outdoor flashlights is talking about putting together would be ideal. Hope it comes to life. I’ll provide a link if it happens anytime soon. It will have the Osram White flat emmiter and will be close to what you are looking for.

If price isn’t a factor, Olight M3XS. Two 18650 cells. I use this light for all of my night time disaster responses.

Astrolux MF02 / Mateminco MT35. 4 * 18650, 2700-3000 lumens, 1.5km throw

I have the mf02. Those are highly exaggerated numbers but still good performance fof the price.

good light but specs and throw not quite what they claim, but still 2000lumens and easy 1km+ throw, for that price 78$ its hard to beat this one build quality is very good its a good light and huge reflector.
