I am helping my friend buy the best flashlight for his application. He is looking for a long distance thrower with a nice defined circle of light to spot light animals over long distance.
High lumen output and max distance, and a nice defined circle of light are a must,…several hundred yards are his goal. Budget of less than $100 but may be willing to bump it up if needed.
Emisar D1S (5D), Thrunite Catapult V6 (neutral white) - Illumn currently has those for $53 with coupon code “cybermonday”.
Both are good for 700m FL1 throw, so enough to see clearly at about half that. The Catapult comes with a battery and has USB charging if that’s useful to your friend.
I second polarweis suggestion and if you decide to go with it make sure to use ( 20% ) as a coupon to bring the price down to Grand Total of $59.99 USD. I ordered mine directly from ThruNite and they used amazon to send it to me.
Nitecore has several lights in the TM series that would fit the bill, but they are all over $100. The Nitecore P30 is a single 18650 light with a very nice tight center beam, and just enough spill to be able to see one’s surroundings, without being so bright that it negates seeing into the distance. MSRP is $65, but I have seen it as low as $35 during the holiday sales.
Another light that I am hearing good things about is the Lumintop GT Mini, the little brother of the Lumintop GT. Now the GT would be the ideal light for your friend, except that it retails for around $250. On the other hand, the GT mini is a single 18650 cell light with a large reflector that has an F1 rated throw of 750m. Best thing about it is that right now it is selling for $50. Lumintop has been building a reputation for quality lights, and I have yet to see a bad review for the GT Mini. If I didn’t already have my P30 I would definitely be ordering one.
Two great choices:
Concentrated tight beam and ramping inerface, the Emissar D1S out throws any midsize light. I have several and they are awesome performers! $35 on International outdoors of $40 in the US from MTN Electronics in the U.S.
More output, a little wider beam but still a high performing thrower to 800 yards is the Lumintoo ODL20C. It also has built in charging and is pretty good at handling heat. With a coupon on here you get it for under $60.
I own more than one of both and very highly recomend them!
I would think the D1S Hank at International Outdoor flashlights is talking about putting together would be ideal. Hope it comes to life. I’ll provide a link if it happens anytime soon. It will have the Osram White flat emmiter and will be close to what you are looking for.
good light but specs and throw not quite what they claim, but still 2000lumens and easy 1km+ throw, for that price 78$ its hard to beat this one build quality is very good its a good light and huge reflector.
