Is the Olight M2R Warrior really a * budget * light at $99.95 MSRP ?

Pace Mr. Jon M ’s review which brought me to this forum . ( I do appreciate his informative comments though . ) I would consider the ThruNite TC15 that he compares with the M2R in another video to be more of a budget light . Anyway , what is the best price that the M2R has been offered for ? Thank you kindly in advance .

A light that retails at $100 (and it is $100 on Amazon) is not a budget light in my opinion.

I strongly concur. Perhaps at 40% off MSRP . I just ordered one for 20% off .

Quick answer is no

Everyone’s budget is different. Some people see $100 as budget while others do not see same way. The way I see it is quality, durability, functions, costs, etc…. Many factors in determining ” budget friendly terms.

Many feelings on the recent Olight sale is budget friendly way to buy lights.

For example : I bought the Olight Warrior X and Powertac Warrior R. Both about same class. BUT Powertac Warrior R was MORE EXPENSIVE. So Powertac is un budget friendly? NO. The features on each light are unique and I like to own different interfaces of each light produced.

When you mention budget then DO NOT consider Surefire, Streamlight, or Pelican. Those are the REAL non budget price. Most of their lights are at least $150 and not nearly great output at all.

As stated above, what is considered “budget” is highly subjective. For me a $100 light would be considered a budget light if for example it makes 10k+ lumens, or 400kcd throw and have good build quality and user friendly UI.

you link goes to a review of a Thrunite TC15.
He immediately states he got the light for free for review from Thrunite…. I did not watch anymore.

Free fits MY budget.

Yeah man, When people get lights for free defeats purpose of budget friendly. Guy did not have to fork out to buy light.

Hence, I personally do reviews from purchased lights with occasional review samples ( end up buying multiples anyway ) so my out would be much more budget friendly.

Quick answer is someone may have a bigger budget than you do.
$100 to someone making 30k a year is different from $100 to someone making 300k.

I would agree that’s not a budget light when comparing it to the competition. Regardless of income it is (in comparison to similar featured lights expensive).
Olight make some very desirable lights and I own some but i do find them pricey. The 5 year warranty helps calm the mind though to a tiny degree.

The “average”. oldie and lower income person.
Budget would be around $10 to maybe $25/30. Realistically.
A married. living together couple is another level.
Some work on combined income. and it’s VERY hard to get much past madam.
Some work on individual incomes and what’s mine’s mine syndrome
with income to spare controlling the levels spent.

Me. (Basically on old age pension) I allow myself $32 a week for a lottery ticket. OR anything else in lieu of.
Works well for me. More exxy torch. several weeks saving to what I need.
Then she still whinges when I buy it. Looking at total figure not combinations of smaller to get there.

I had 3 separate delivery’s today. That put this li’l black duck in poo for a week at least.
Hope she don’t see any of the other 2 delivery’s due around now as well Hey.

We can’t win. No matter which way we go if a female involved.

Depending on the light including features, material, LED, but also accessories (charging station, bag, holster, …) I would say under 50 $US could be budget. 20-35 $US for just the flashlight, since you also might have to account for quality lithium cells and a charger.

100$US appears high for a flashlight, but Olight is a quality brand with really cool features. The average consumer probably won’t know about light features unless they are into outdoors/flashlights/prepping/survival.

Budget light is a relative term. Same with budget office laptop for web, word, excel and budget gaming laptop. It must be related to the value it delivers for specific task / use case.
IMO, Olight M2R can’t be considered budget light.

In my opinion, no. Pretty much nothing Olight makes is budget, it’s a premium brand through and through.

Olight do seem to have a reasonable number of sales with 40 - 50% off and thats when I tend to buy their products. At $50 I think they squeak in as budget

Just.

I like the form and looks of the light and Olight quality is great. The price tag though Ouch! In a market of 1800-2200 lumen XHP35s selling around $50-60, this is gong to be a hard market to be successful in.
The Olight is definitely not “Budget”

I would classify Streamlight as on the line between budget and premium . ( The ProTac 2L-X is available for $ 41.38 on Amazon . ) I definitely would not classify Surefire as a budget brand . I’m not familiar with Pelican .

Good points . Thanks.

What if it were available for 40% or even 20% off ?

I concur . However , at a hefty ( 40% off ) discount during one of their flash sales ?
