LF a new EDCable light with side + tail switch and no mode memory

Hi!

I want to buy a new light to EDC with kinda specific requirements for UI and features. Usually I wear my EDC lights (Emisar D4, Klarus XT2CR) clipped on my belt and I would want the new light to be small enough to do so as well. I found three lights that somewhat fit my criteria but maybe there are more out there or someone has EDC experience with the lights I found. Or maybe someone can provide me with a better method to EDC a larger light with jeans so that it is instantly accessible and is secured well enough to be able to run a few meters with it without losing it (a real life test which the XT2CR fails more often then not). Bonus points for not making me look like a wannabe police officer.

My criteria:

  • A side AND a tail switch where the tail switch always starts in high or turbo and must have a momentary-on function (no memory mode for the tail switch). It must not switch modes to any lower mode or have secondary switches on the back that do that (I am looking at you, XT2CR!)
  • A moonlight/firefly mode.
  • Ability to somehow turn on the light in firefly/moonlight or at least low mode.
  • 1000 or 1500+ lumens
  • Compact enough to wear clipped onto a belt without major headaches or a way to carry it just as easy.
  • Ideally USB chargeable.

I found the following lights to fit my criteria:

  • Olight M2R - I don’t like that in outdoor mode turbo is reduced to 1000 lumen via tail switch. Does anyone know whether the full 1500 lumens are available by using the side switch? Not sure if I like the back button.
  • Olight M2T - No USB charging, “only” 1200 lumens, strobe on tail switch seems easy to accidentially activate (?)
  • Acebeam T36 - really long and bulky. The XT2CR is half a centimeter shorter and thinner and is kind of a pain to have clipped on the belt.
  • Acebeam L16/L30 II. Even longer and bulkier.

I would love to hear your opinions and suggestions.

Those two things are mutually exclusive. How would the light know what you wanted it to do?

On the Olight M2R Warrior you can get the max output from OFF, using the side switch after: double click to 1000 lumens (turbo 1) and another double click for 1500 lumens (turbo 2)!

I use mine in “tactical” mode with half press (tail) for 1500 lumens and full press for strobe!

I like the possibility to start in Moonlight or in the last used mode, clicking the side switch!

Uh I am not sure we are talking about the same thing: I want a flashlight with one side switch and one tail switch (not multiple secondory tail switches like the XT2CR). I want the tail switch to only turn on in the highest mode. Acebeam and Olight alow the light to be switched on via the side switch as well. Other flashlights I have seen (that don’t fulfill the my other criteria though) can be turned on in the lowest mode by holding the side switch and then turning it on via the back button.

Oh, I did not know that - thanks!
